Huron Pioneer Thresher Reunion 1994
Many options for satisfying hungry visitors
With all the sites and exhibitions available
for viewing at the Huron Pioneer Thresher
and Hobby Association's 33rd anniversary
reunion, one might work up an appetite.
This year as in the past, there will be a
good selection of food available throughout
the three day event held at the Blyth
Fairgrounds.
There will be food booths strategically
placed around the grounds to make
quenching a hunger or thirst very easy.
The food will be available at Shed 2, near
Second Stage next to the arena ball diamond,
close to Radford's diamond on the opposite
side of the park and in the Auditorium
The Blyth Optimists and Lions will be
providing typical fare such as pop, hotdogs,
chips, fries and hamburgers from Friday
through Sunday. The Optimists will also
offer Oktoberfest sausage.
The Blyth Girl Guides, Brownies and
Pathfinders will be operating a booth which
will supply hungry spectators with muffins,
coffee and cold drinks.
Carol Gross will be dishing out hotdogs,
burgers and fries from the food booth in the
arena.
If you are interested in some old-fashioned
food, a trip to the bean pot at the centre of
the park could be the answer. The beans are
started early in the morning in a large cast
iron pot. They simmer over an open fire
throughout the day. As portions are taken
out to feed the crowds more beans are added
to the brew. This is a typical thresher's soup.
The Huron County Museum cooks will be
stirring the bean pot as well as popping some
com the old-fashioned way and pouring a

At the first A Taste of
Country Food Fair in
Blyth, July 23 many
visitors got so many
free samples from
the dozens of food
producers and
processors that they didn't need to buy
lunch. They got to sample foods they
wouldn't ordinarily find on their
supermarket shelf — wild boar, elk,
venison, new products from local
processors, all for the low admission price
of $2 per adult. Next year you can enjoy
yourself too.
