Brussels Livestock report Stocker steers reach $140.50 Sales at Brussels Livestock for the week ending Aug. 26 were: fed cattle, 404; cows, 196; bulls, 19; veal calves, 202; sheep and goats, 200; stockers, 877; and pigs, light run. The market at Brussels Livestock saw all classes of cattle selling fully steady. There were 278 steers on offer selling from $89 to $94 to the high of $106. Three steers consigned by Peter Minkenberg, Moorefield, averaging 923 lbs. sold for an average of $98.95 with sales to $106. Eleven steers consigned by Maple Ridge Farms, Brussels, averaging 1,388 lbs. sold for an average of $94.91 with sales to $104.25. Three steers consigned by Mark and Paul Pennington, Mildmay, averaging 1,453 lbs. sold for an average of $93.17 with sales to $100. Eleven steers consigned by Russel Kernighan, Goderich, averaging 1,153 lbs. sold for an average of $90.83 with sales to $99.75. Ten steers consigned by Kada Farms, Bluevale, averaging 1,373 lbs. sold for an average of $92.37 with sales to $97.75. Twenty-four steers consigned by Cunningham Farms, Lucan, aver­ aging 1,339 lbs. sold for an average of $92.43 with sales to $97.25. There were 126 heifers on offer selling from $89 to $94 to the high of $95.50. Ten heifers consigned by Russ Faber, Kippen, averaging 1,019 lbs. sold for an average of $91.59 with sales to $95.50. Eight heifers consigned by Jeff Campbell, Seaforth, averaging 1,004 lbs. sold for an average of $93.53 with sales to $94.70. Two heifers consigned by David Woman totals car A Woodstock woman escaped serious injury after rolling her car in Grey Twp. Aug. 24. A spokesperson from the Wing­ ham OPP said Donna Moss, 65 was travelling east on County Road 25 at 2:25 p.m. at 80 kilometres an hour. The right front tire of her 1993 Dodge Spirit caught the shoulder of the road. The car veered left, fishtailed then slid into the north ditch where it rolled. Ms Moss sustained minor injuries. One cow consigned by Normangrove Farms, Wingham, weighing 940 lbs. sold for $74.25. And the winner is... Shannon Craig, left, was crowned Queen of the Furrow of the Huron County Plowing Match on Aug. 26. Last year's winner Sharon Kelly presented her with the crown and mantle. F arm Local Holstein breeders place well at county show Several area farmers did well at the Huron County Holstein Show, Aug. 19 in Seaforth. Paul and Ellen Gibbings of Willvem Farm, RR1, Clinton won Premier Breeder and Premier Exhibitor, as well as taking the prize for Junior Champ for Willvem Astre Dixie, at the event which featured 18 exhibitors and 92 head. There were also 20 4-H members and nine junior lead per­ sons taking part. Jim Hallahan's Lazy Meadows QM Buck Marj took Reserve Junior Champ. Lazy Meadows farm also won for Junior Herd.
