Both actors have appeared on the Blyth stage many times in the past and are enjoying being part of its 20th anniversary season. Actors talk about ‘Bouncing Back’ You are as young as you feel and Kate refuses to act her age, which is 80. In the world premiere of Suzanne Finlay's Bouncing Back, Kate is having more fun than her 40ish daughter, Brenda. Life's lessons are to be learned by both women and they are both determined to have their own way. A wild, wacky comedy, Bounc­ ing Back is the Blyth Festival's third production of the 1994 sea­ son. It features renowned Canadian actors Anne Anglin as Kate and Nancy Beatty as Brenda. Ms Anglin says, "The play is quite challenging because it is basi­ cally carried by two people. Kate and Brenda must leam to deal with their own crisis as well as with each other." She says, "Although the story is set in British Columbia, it is a situ­ ation which could take place any­ where." "There are issues which are faced Minnelli comes to Stratford International singing star and Academy Award-winning actress Liza Minnelli will give a special benefit concert for the Stratford Festival on Monday, Sept. 12 at 8 p.m. The winner of Tony and Golden Globe awards, as well as the best-actress Oscar for her portrayal of Sally Bowles in the movie Cabaret, Ms Minnelli will perform on the Festival Theatre stage, accompanied by her own dynamic trio. A small number of gala tickets are available, priced at $250 each. These include a pre-show dinner at the renowned Church Restaurant in Stratford and a post-performance reception with Ms Minnelli in the Festival Theatre Marquee. Directed by Terry Tweed, Bounc­ ing Back also features another face familiar to Blyth theatregoers, Jerry Franken. Music is composed by John Roby, who wrote last year's The Old Man's Band. Costume design is by Shawn Kerwin and lighting design is by Lesley Wilkinson. Bouncing Back, which previews July 20, plays in repertory until Saturday, Sept. 3. tickets are priced at $75 and $50. HAPPY 24TH BOB BADLEY Gotcha! Ira Levin’s witty and mind- boggling murder game, Deathtrap, is at Huron Country Playhouse from July 19 to July 30. Mr. Levin is one of America's most successful writers of thrillers, whose output includes The Boys from Brazil, Rosemary's Baby and Veronica's Room. Deathtrap, the film based on the play, was released in 1982 starring Michael Cain as Sydney Bruhl and Christopher Reeve as Clifford Anderson. Murder reigns supreme in this suspense thriller about a failed drama writer who thinks he's come up with a workable plot: doing in actual people, not on stage but in his own home. Don Allison is Sidney Bruhl, the acid-tongued plotter of murders on and off the stage. Although his first time on the HCP stage, Mr. Allison brings a long list of theatre and television/film credits. Starring opposite Mr. Allison is Christopher Shyer as Clifford Anderson, the talented student who brings his potential hit script to the writer. Mr. Shyer last appeared as Lancelot in 1992's Camelot. The cast also includes Jill Frappier as Myra Bruhl, the edgy wife and unwilling accomplice; Linda Goranson as the Dutch psychic Helga ten Dorp, whose speciality is advising the police on difficult cases and David Hughes as Porter Milgrim, the New England lawyer with a devastating urge to write mysteries.
