The Citizen, 1994-07-20, Page 16PAGE 16. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, JULY 20,1994. Feeding the 5,000, pastor’s sermon topic Worshippers at Blyth United Church Sunday, July 17 were greeted by Les and Shirley Rutledge. Ushers were Kay Buchanan and Betty Hoegy. The nursery was in the charge of Laurie Brooks. Rev. Jock Tolmay opened the service with call to worship, then the hymn Now Thank We All Our God was sung. Invocation, Confession and Apostle's Creed were repeated in unison. The children's meditation was based on the scripture from Mark 6: V30-44. It tells them they have things they can share to make a difference to those around them. When we do share, Rev. Tolmay said, everyone enjoys life more. In church Jesus has good and rich things to share with us, he said. The choir anthem, under the direction of Mrs. Phyllis Boak at the organ and Erica Clark on the piano was Are You Washed in the Blood of the Lamb. Hymn O For a Closer Walk with God was sung. The title of Rev. Tolmay's sermon was "You feed them". If Jesus is our Saviour we have to believe that more than 5,000 people Carne sings at service were fed, he said. The message for the church is that priority be given to the person, so there is time to develop and keep a relationship with God. We need help from a higher power, Rev. Tolmay said. It is God who has the power, love and capacity to change people. "Minute for Missions" was given by Les Rutledge. The Congrega tional Prayer and singing of The Lord's Prayer followed. The closing hymn was Take up the Cross, which was followed by the Benediction and Choral Response. July and August services begin at 10 a.m. Rev. Randy Banks 887-6540 will be on call for emergencies in July. Vacation Bible School is 9 - 11:30, Aug. 22-26 at Christian Reform Church. All children 4-12 are welcome. Volunteer teachers and assistants (age 13 and up) are needed. Call Bonnie Shannon. Pastor Came sang a solo, It Will Be Worth It All When We See Christ, at the morning service July 17 at Auburn Missionary Church. His message was "On Hearing from Heaven" with scripture from Acts 10: 23-29. Special emphasis was placed on "but God has shown me". God performed miracles in the Bible, Pastor Came said, such as the conversion of Saul or the resurrection of Dorcas, but God is performing miracles today even to giving missionaries the ability to speak in another language. There is the voice of conviction, he said. All have sinned (Romans 3:23) but we say I’m an exception. People are warned but they think they haven't sinned. We don't recognize ourselves in our sins but when we do it is a resurrection, he said. There is the voice of confidence. When a person is saved he is redeemed and you know that you are saved as in Romans 8:16 "the just shall live by faith". There is the voice of direction, Pastor Carne said. Every person should hear the voice of God in choosing a mate, work, etc. If you don't have the Spirit of God you are in trouble. "Are you hearing any voices?" he asked. Often we are tuned to Satan's voice rather than God's voice. Exciting things will take place at Auburn Missionary Church from July 25 to 29. It is summer Kids Klub.
