Blyth council to use infrastructure grant for lights
Blyth council decided at the July
13 meeting to apply its remaining
allotment of Canada-Ontario
Infrastructure Works grant money
towards the purchase and installa
tion of more decorative lights in the
village from Drummond St. to the
bridge.
The total amount is $38,600.
Applications for $40,000 and
$69,000 hav.e already been sent for
a salt/sand storage and watermain
work, respectively.

Motions were passed designating
the Blyth Ladies Fastball Tourna
ment for July 29, 30, and 31 and
the Huron Pioneer Threshers and
Hobby Association Reunion for
Sept. 9, 10, 11 as community festi
vals to allow for the obtaining of
liquor licenses.

With regards to driveway
entrances on Hwy 4, council has
developed a standard position for
all affected residents.
Three requests for council's sup
ports to have special consideration
given to their property during the
reconstruction work have been
received.
Council agreed to support
requests as long as the requests
meet the regulations and criteria of
the Ministry of Transportation and
that there be no cost to the village

Supplementary funds in the
amount of $25,000 have been
received to proceed with the next
phase of Morris St.
• This will be used to pave and
install curb and gutter from north of
McConnell St. to Dinsley St.
According to Statistics Canada,
only six per cent of all sexual
assaults are reported to police.
