The Citizen, 1994-06-22, Page 9Children sing at service Calvin-Brick members joined with members of Knox United Church in Belgrave to celebrate Knox's Sunday School Anniversary on Sunday, June 19. Elizabeth Procter, played organ and Anne Spivey the piano to accompany the congregation as the service began with the excellent singing of Joyful We Adore Thee. The Sunday School students carried on the enthusiastic tone as they joined together at the front of the church to sing Yes I Am and It's A Small World. Paul Walker and Adam Potter read from the Old and New Testament, respectively. The Son-Shine Singers, sporting their golden rod yellow, official choir t-shirts, then energetically performed two numbers, I'd Like to Sing about My Dad and Jesus is a Rock and He Rolls My Blues Away. The guest speaker for this special Sunday was Kevin Stewart, well- known to the congregation from his work as producer of The Family Farmer. Kevin gave an excellent talk on "The Marks of an Effective Church" and left everyone thinking about what are principles and what are preferences within the church. The service closed with the singing of This Is My Father's World. The congregation then moved outdoors to enjoy the barbecued chicken that had once again been prepared to perfection by Cam Procter and his crew. | g o ?
