Jill Seeds, an employee of Rev- Mennonite news Pastor Tom Warner preached from Hebrews 11: 1-7 and 32-39 on Sunday, Feb. 20 at Brussels Mennonite Fellowship. Lucy Hesse was song leader and Thys deJong was pianist. The Commissioning of Committees for 1994 was conducted during the service. Elwin Garland, Alice Knorr and Linda Campbell will serve as elders. Lucy Hesse, Nancy Elliot- Greenwood and Rob Demaray make up the Worship and Music Committee. Wendy Martin, Suzanne Wideman, Thelma Steinman and Mary Keupfer are in charge of Christian Education. The Missions Committee is comprised of Linda Garland, Margaret Campbell, Bev Brown and Yvonne Dettweiler. The Mennonite Disaster Service Rep is Rob Fyn and the Mennonite Central Committee Rep is Ken Horst. Ezra Steckley, Rod Steinman and Bill Home make up the Property Committee. The Saturday Evening Community Praise Planning Team consists of Elwin Garland, Darren Hemmingway, Wendy Martin, Christy Pardys and Carol Goodland. Anneke Pardys, Andrea Warner and Phyllis Lockhart are the Social Convenors. Mary Bann and Mervin Lichly are the auditors. LeRoy Winger continues to serve as treasurer. Head usher is Clayton Knorr. Church council chairman is Paul Greenwood and church council secretary is Alice Martin. The church secretary is Kathy Procter. enue Canada will be in the Brussels Library on Saturday, March 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to help residents fill out their personal income tax forms. The only requirement for the free service she says is that people please remember to bring all their slips and receipts. Ms Seeds says as well that any­ one with questions can contact the Revenue Canada office in Goderich at the Canada Employment Centre on Thursdays during the months of March and April. While the staff does not fill out forms there they will provide information and have many of the papers you may need to complete your tax return. On Saturday, Feb. 19 Jim Smith of Brussels turned 85 years young. Family and friends helped Jim celebrate at the Golden Lantern Restaurant for 7 p.m. dinner. They returned to Jim's for cards and fellowship. A good time was had by all. There was a large attendance at the annual dessert euchre party sponsored by Morning Star Rebekah Lodge, Brussels on Monday, Feb. 14. There were 12 tables at play in euchre after the bountiful dessert luncheon. Winners of prizes as follows were: high lady, Emeline Steiss; low lady, Phyllis Mitchell; high man, Albert Quipp; low man, Ruby Hanna (playing as a man); most lone hands, Luella Mitchell; lucky tally, Annie White; door prize, Doris Foster; lucky draw, Vera Hessel. While Lawrence Machan's teamamates look a little concerned that he might not return the volley they'll have to admit it was a good effort. The Slush Puppies as this group was named were playing in the annual Brussels Sno-Fest this past weekend. Sixteen teams competed. It was moved by Martha Logan, seconded by Jeanne Ireland that $15 be donated to Town and Country Homemakers. The new sunshine convenor is Doris Hooper The next meeting will be held at Maple Villa on Wednesday, March 16 al 2 p.m. Members are asked to wear something green. Euchre followed. Winners were: high man, Mary Clark; high lady, Martha Logan; low man, Doris Hooper, low lady, Adah Smith.
