Total receipts for Brussels
Livestock for the week ending Aug.
9 were 2,118 cattle and 1,490 lambs
and goats.
On Tuesday a light run of cattle
saw fed steers and heifers selling on
a good steady trade. Choice steers
and heifers sold $143 to $147.
Second cut steers and heifers sold
$140 to $144. Cows sold steady.
On Thursday veal sold on a very
strong active trade at prices $10 to
$20 higher. Heavy lambs and heavy
kid goats sold higher due to the
upcoming holiday. Nanny goats and
sheep sold on a strong active trade.
On Friday all cattle sold on a strong
active trade. Calves sold at steady
prices and yearlings sold on a very
strong active trade at slightly higher
prices.
Leonard and Andrew Black of
Proton Station, consigned 12 steers
that averaged 1,430 lbs. and sold for
an average price of $145.19. One red
steer weighed 1,455 lbs. and sold for
$147. Elam W. Martin of Harriston,
consigned seven steers that averaged
1,437 lbs. and sold for an average
price of $142.87. One red steer
weighed 1,620 lbs. and sold for
$146.
Southlore Farms Inc. of
Palmerston, consigned 17 head that
averaged 1,382 lbs. and sold for an
average price of $140.91. Two red
heifers averaged 1,345 lbs. and sold
for an average price of $146.
There were 200 cows on offer.
Beef sold $98 to $106 with sales to
$107.50; D1 and D2, $85 to $90
with sales to $91; D3, $76 to $80;
D4, $70 to $75.
Clint Murray of Lucknow,
consigned one red cow that weighed
1,435 lbs. and sold for $107.50.
There were eight bulls selling $95
to $106. Eli A. Stutzman of
Lucknow, consigned one charolais
bull that weighed 2,165 lbs. and sold
for $106.
There were 155 head of veal on
offer. Beef sold $165 to $188; good
holsteins, $112 to $118 with sales to
$127; Sl heavy holsteins, $105 to
$120; heavy holsteins, $110 to $118;
medium holsteins, $90 to $105;
plain holsteins, $75 to $85.

consigned five steers that averaged
692 lbs. and sold for an average
price of $115.85. One holstein steer
weighed 705 lbs. and sold for $127.

consigned seven holstein steers that
averaged 684 lbs. and sold for an
average price of $112.79. One
holstein steer weighed 680 lbs. and
sold for $124.

active trade at slightly higher prices.
Lambs and sheep sold higher. Goats
sold barely steady but nannies sold
higher. On Friday calves and
yearlings sold on a very active trade
at prices $3 to $5 higher.

consigned nine head that averaged
1,396 lbs. and sold for an average
price of $141.61. One red steer
weighed 1,340 lbs. and sold for
$164. Greg McPherson of
Teeswater, consigned four head that
averaged 1,573 lbs. and sold for an
average price of $145.77. One red
steer weighed 1,510 lbs. and sold for
$154.
There were 225 cows on offer.
Beef sold $98 to $108 with sales to
$109.50; D1 and D2, $85 to $90
with sales to $103; D3, $76 to $80;
