The Citizen, 2019-06-27, Page 17THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, JUNE 27, 2019. PAGE 17. With two neighbouring blood donor clinics scheduled for early next month, two Deputy-Mayors are putting their money where their mouths are to help boost donations. Huron East Deputy-Mayor Bob Fisher has challenged Central Huron Deputy-Mayor Dave Jewitt to a wager based on the two blood donor clinics, scheduled for Monday, July 8 at the Seaforth and District Community Centre and Friday, July 12 at the Central Huron Community Complex. Building upon the longstanding rivalry between local hockey teams, the Huron East Centennaires and the Clinton Radars, Fisher has challenged Jewitt to bring out more donors to the Clinton clinic than Fisher can bring to the Seaforth clinic. Whichever town’s clinic yields the most donations will be declared the winner. The loser will have to wear the winner’s team’s hockey jersey to a council meeting, fly the winner’s municipal flag and buy the winner lunch. Fisher said he’s trying to inject some fun into the clinics, all while driving donations for a worthy cause. He said that historically, the Seaforth clinic has outperformed the Clinton one, so Jewitt has no chance of winning, but appreciates his good sportsmanship and participation. Jewitt, however, sees it the other way, saying he accepts Fisher’s terms and he looks forward to seeing him in a Clinton Radars jersey. The Seaforth clinic shows available appointments from 2:30- 6:40 p.m. on July 8, while the Clinton clinic available appoint- ments run from 3:35-7:20 p.m. Fisher says that Canadian Blood Services encourages those wanting to donate to book an appointment before arriving by calling 1-888-2- Donate or visiting blood.ca. • Renovations • New Homes • Sales & Installation of Windows & Doors Call Ken 519-887-9857 Brussels, ON C&P PORTABLE TOILETS Teeswater 1-800-834-4414 Ph: 519-392-8474 Fax: 519-392-6168 * Regular Units * Deluxe Units - sink / flush * Handwash Stations * Wedding / Special Event Units * Wheelchair/Infant Care Units * Comfort Station Trailer C&P - for people who are out and “going”!
