A few more
March dates to
note. March 20 is
both the first
official day of
spring and also
Earth Day. In case
things are getting
too tense at work
March 22 is
supposedly
National Goof Off
Day. You decide
how to mark that
day!
Hopefully, by
March 30 here will
be a smell of spring
in the air so we can
all enjoy Take a
Walk in the Park
Day, or unless we
are dealing with
March leaving like
a lion.
March is
certainly living up
to its reputation as the windy month.
If you are out walking go by John
and Nikki Bernier's place and marvel
at how the evergreen that fell missed
both the other tree on the lawn and
doing any damage to the house or
little front porch.
Rob McMichael, who, along with
his wife, began the C1 Student
Centre in Clinton recently, led the
morning worship at Londesborough
United on Sun., March 17.
Londesborough's Outreach
Committee had chosen this centre as
their annual project back in January.
As Rob explained, the centre gives
teens another living room, a safe
place to go when they need someone
to be with, to hang out, to connect
and exchange ideas, have someone
listen to them perhaps or to just chill
out in a supportive non-judgmental
atmosphere.
Londesborough United presented
Rob with a cheque for $1,080 for his
work there. This storefront centre
posts upcoming activities on their
window and students are always
welcome to drop by.
Rob’s service was titled “The
Road” and he chronicled the
roads/journey that brought him to
this centre. He explained that each of
us has his or her own road laid out by
God. He eventually knew he needed
a new driver/guide in his life and
turned his journey over to God.
We all travel life roads, sometimes
in the wrong directions, until we
truly listen to the GPS which is God.
Through the centre in Clinton he
tries to reach new people and bring
them to Jesus and get them on their
designated roads.
LONDESBOROUGH UCW
Who of us will forget Julie
Andrews singing about her favourite
things in the movie Sound of Music?
You know, the one about whiskers
on kittens and warm woolen mittens.
The ladies who gathered at
Londesborough United on Feb. 18
for the UCW meeting had a chance
to sing that song as part of the
evening’s program/meditation led by
Ann Adams, Kim Roetcisoender,
Mary Ann Drost and Catherine
Allen.
Then they were asked to share
some of their personal favourite
things. Answers included time with
grandchildren, wonders of nature,
good foods, etc.
The group in charge reminded
everyone that we all need to
acknowledge that all these “things”
are gifts from a loving, gracious
God. They are not to be taken for
granted. Enjoy them, but be
thankful.
President Bev Riley conducted a
short business meeting following the
singing of “All Things Bright and
Beautiful”.
