Who but Christ!
(Charles Spurgeon, “Our Glorious Transforming”)
Think of GOD a moment. Your thoughts cannot reach Him. He is infinitely pure--
the heavens are not clean in His sight. He even charges His holy angels with folly!
That is one side of the picture.
Now look at YOURSELF--a worm that has rebelled against its Creator, loathsome
with sin, defiled through and through!
When I see a beggar and a prince stand together, I see a distance--but ah! It is but
an inch compared with the infinite leagues of distance in character and nature
between God and the fallen man.
Who but Christ could have lifted us up from so low an estate, to so high a
condition; from fellowship with devils, unto communion with Jehovah Himself?
The distance was inconceivable. We are lost in wonder at the greatness of the love
that made it all to vanish.
“Behold, how great a love the Father has bestowed on us--that we should be called
children of God!” 1 John 3:1

North Huron saves on new sidewalk equipment
North Huron Township saved a
significant amount of money on the
purchase of a tractor through buying
used and utilizing GovDeals.ca, a
website that allows municipalities to
auction off equipment.
Originally, the municipal had
budgeted $101,760 to purchase a
trackless tractor for use in Blyth that
would maintain the sidewalks of the
village in the winter.
In searching for efficiencies,
Public Works Director Sean
McGhee sought out quotes on used
or refurbished units. While he did
find a refurbished unit that fit the
needs of the municipality, a 2007
model without any attachments for
$79,900, a unit with more
attachments became available on
GovDeals for significantly less.
McGhee reported that staff
reviewed the unit, however the
existing procurement policy doesn’t
address used equipment being
obtained through auctions, online or
otherwise.
After discussing the issue with
Director of Finance Donna White,
Chief Administrative Officer
Dwayne Evans and Reeve Neil
Vincent, McGhee was authorized to
purchase the unit for $39,000.
McGhee said the purchase was a
good find because, even with
refurbished units, there was at least
5,000 hours on them while the unit
purchased only had 3,200.
After all taxes, the unit cost
$41,670, $60,089 under budget.
The unit has already been
stationed in Blyth and it came with a
water tank, straight blade, snow
blower and other equipment.
McGhee said it was very well
equipped for the price.
Vincent said the unit came from a
municipality he was familiar with,
and said the municipality has a
mechanic on staff, so the repair
history is well-documented.
Councillor Brock Vodden asked if
the machine was the same width as
the sidewalk, saying he had received
complaints about the damage the
current machine causes by being
wider than the sidewalks. McGhee
said the unit was designed
specifically for municipal sidewalks
and should alleviate those concerns.
Council received McGhee’s
report.

Collision
The oft-discussed intersection of County Roads 4 and 25 continues to concern residents as
another collision occurred last week, sending one of the vehicles involved through the
roadside ditch and on to the Blyth Cowbell Brewing Company property, as shown above.
