THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 15, 1993. On the afternoon of Sunday, Dec. 12, the congregation of Knox United Church in Belgrave was treated to the annual Sunday School Christmas concert. The first performers of the day were the children of the Kindergarten class who presented a number entitled, most appro- priately, "God's Little Angels". Harmony Spivey then sang "Gloria Deo''. The next class to make the stage was the Grade 1/2's who presented "The Best Gift" with each child decked out as a colourful Christmas package. They were accompanied on the piano by Anne Spivey, as were many of the performers that afternoon. Scott Folkard then sat down at the piano and played ''We Three Kings of Orient Are". He was immediately followed by Nathan Spivey, who also demonstrated his skills at the piano with a piece entitled "Trains". Andersons host party The Earl Anderson family held their Christmas party in the WI Hall, Belgrave on Sunday, Dec. 12. The Evening Unit of the UCW catered to the dinner. Families came from Kingston, Milton, Fergus, Guelph, Toronto, Auburn and Blyth. The Edgar relatives held their Christmas on Saturday, Dec. 11 in the Women's Institute Hall, Belgrave. The Institute catered to a turkey dinner. After the meal Christmas carols were sung until Santa arrived at 8 p.m. to help give out the gifts. Court Whist was played while the children played with their toys. To bring the evening to a close Debbie (Craig) Hakker had made and decorated a 45th wedding anniversary for Harvey and Audrey Edgar who celebrated their anniversary on Nov. 21. Relatives were present from Tavistock, Petrolia, Aylmer, London, Blyth, Lucknow and Wingham. The entire congregation joined in the singing of "Silent Night, Holy Night" and another excellent concert came to a close. Euchre Ten tables were in play at the weekly euchre which was held in the WI Hall, Belgrave, Wednesday, Dec. 8. Winners were: high lady, Lois Chamney; second high lady, Kay Rich; lone hands, lady, Jane Grasby; low lady, Laura Johnston; high man, Gordon Bosman; second high man, Oscar Schefter; lone hands, man, Stan Black and low man, George Inglis. There will be euchre again Wednesday, Dec. 15 starting at 8 p.m. The Belgrave Kinsmens' Turkey Bingo held on Dec. 7 at the Com- inunity Centre, was a success, with approximately 120 people in atten- dance, says organizer Mike Mal- hiot. The Kinsmen are raising money to help pay off the final $26,000 owing on the centre, through the bingo and the selling of their cash calendars, which are still available through Belgrave Kinsmen mem bers. The winners of turkeys at th.:!. Turkey Bingo were Doris Robin- son, Jodi Snowden, Doris Michie, Barb Pletch, Edna McLellan, Nellie Brock, Triva Jamieson, Gord Bosman, Michelle Nixon and Deb- bie Pfieffer. Cash winners were Lila Rintoul, Cathy Edgar, Danielle Thompson, Lori McIntosh and Michelle Thompson. Betty Armstrong and Lori McIn- tosh each won a turkey in a draw and the kids' bingo winners were Adam McBurney, Erin Sanders and Jodi Snowden. Turn off the water when brushing your teeth. The Grade 3/4 class gave the audience a "Spelling Lesson" on he world "Christmas", as well as sharing their wishes for Christmas. Lisa Black completed the Grade 3/4 effort by singing "0 Come All Ye Faithful". Kendra Folkard then seated herself at the piano and performed a rendition of "Mary's Cradle Song". Next, on stage, the audience was privileged to witness three-year-old Ben Procter's unexpected debut as he joined his mother, Lila and his brother, Andrew in the singing of "C.H.R.I.S.T.M.A.S." The final presentation of the afternoon came from the 5/6 class and the singing of many traditional carols filled the church as the class shared the "Scenes and Sounds of Christmas".
