Stephen downs Brussels Atoms
Even with several power play
opportunities, the Brussels House-
league Atoms were unable to take
advantage as a strong Stephen Twp.
team pummeled them 8-2 in
Stephen on Saturday afternoon.
Both Brussels' goals, the latter a
neat Gretzky wrap around, came in
the third from the stick of Carla
Hunt. The assist on the second goal
went to Stephen Todd.
While Brussels allowed Stephen
to score three in the first, they
appeared to have gotten it together
allowing only one in the second.
But, in the third, an overpowering
Stephen team was able to take
advantage of the tiring Brussels
players to tag on four more.

Blyth Beginner Darcey Cook got a chance to play with the big guys on Saturday and made a
contribution, playing through the rough spots like this one with a natural hockey ability, to get
his chance at poking the puck into the net in this high scoring effort for Blyth against
Teeswater.
Blyth Tykes score 31 in 2 games
Nathan Loder, referee for the
Blyth Tyke hockey team, had a
busy time skating to the
scorekeeper this past week, when
Belgrave visited Blyth on Monday,
Dec. 6 and when Teeswater came
into town for an exhibition game
on Saturday, Dec. 11.
Altogether, in the two games, the
• Blyth team chalked up 31 goals,
and had only one goal scored
against them.
Brett Bean did an outstanding job
as goaltender, and that's exactly
what the majority of his time was
spent doing — standing alone,
watching the play from his net,
since his teammates did such a
superb job, that Brett faced no
shots from Teeswater, and only two
from Belgrave.
J. Robinson of Belgrave scored
in the last 28 seconds of the game,
to rob the sprawling Bean from the
double shut-out, as the puck did
across the line.
Both Belgrave's goalie, Nicole
Procter, and Teeswater's goalie,
Devin Schiestal, made many
outstanding initial saves, but were
overwhelmed with goals as they
faced every type of shot
imaginable, as Blyth kept coming
back.
Throughout the games, Justin
Peters could be seen weaving
around players, from zone to zone,
to take wicked wrist shots,
blistering slapshots or little poke
shots that resulted in nine goals and
seven assists.
Ryan McClinchey also developed
great speed and agility, which
enabled him to carry the puck from
end to end when necessary. He was
a constant threat to the goalies as
he tallied eight goals and seven
assists.
Luke Anderson prefers the direct,
straight-as-an-arrow-approach.
From the face-off, he flew forward,
carrying the puck precisely to the
net for his shot, managing to get his
first two goals and assist in this
fashion.
Cody Anderson, who has reflexes
as quick as a cat, was able to turn
the defensive plays by interfering
and finishing any opposition
rushes, and initiating many plays
which were successfully completed
as goals by himself or his
teammates.
