THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 1, 1993. WI bake sale set for Dec. 9 On Thursday, Dec. 9 from 11:00 - 5:30 the Walton WI will be holding a bake sale at the hall. There will also be crafts made by local people and a table set up for items under $1 so kids can shop too. There will be a video to help entertain children while parents shop. Magician Marg Dean seems a little puzzled at the end result of this sleight of hand trick when the bottles she and Brittany Holmes of Walton Public School were holding ended up in a different position even though they both did the trick the same way. The London resident with her husband noted magician Dicky Dean visit many schools to entertain. Smiths greet Tama, Tad and Tina Smith were greeters at Duffs United Church on Nov. 28, the first Sunday at Advent. Rev. Banks announced that Dec. 5 after church the Sunday School will be serving lasagna. There will also be a play practise too. Dec. 20 will be a night for carolling and sleigh riding for kids and adults alike. The children then joined in a circle to make an Advent wreath while Andrew McDonald stood in the middle to be a candle of hope as everyone sang "Light one Candle". Rev. Banks, Patty and Geoffrey read the Advent liturgy with Geoffrey lighting the first Advent candle. The choir sang, "The Bread We Eat". The children gathered at the front of the church while Rev. Banks showed them how to make an Advent chain from a booklet each child would receive once they were in class. He also showed them the Jesse Tree that a few Walton people made at the Bluevale family Advent night. Communion was served by Viola Kirkby, Margaret Craig and Phyllis and Emmerson Mitchell. Rev. Banks's sermon was called 'Come Down, God". The two older Sunday School classes went bowling at Molesworth after church. It was a lot of fun and they topped the event off with ice cream and treats at the Dairy Queen. Many area people are celebrating Get well wishes go to Marilyn birthdays this month. Last weekend Viola Kirkby, Margery Huether and Mary Humphries from Walton as well as Mary Lou Johnston from Bluevale took a bus trip to Niagara Falls, N.Y. to see the Festival of Lights. They got to see Charlie Pride and Tommy Hunter at the Convention Centre. "Oh what fun it is to shop..." There is a store called "The Workshop" Men's clothing galore.
