After some debate, Blyth council
decided at its Nov. 25 meeting to
not rescind a motion to increase the
stipend for the Blyth/ East
Wawanosh representative to the
Wingham Hospital board. In addi-
tion the council also agreed to pay
$250 towards the East Wawanosh
special meeting fee total. The fee in
the past was a set amount paid to
the representative by the township
for attendance at special meetings,
in addition to an annual stipend for
annual representation at regular
meetings. Blyth had never paid the
hospital representative for special
meetings.

THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 1, 1993. PAGE 3.
Blyth pays share of twp. fee
The confusion occurred follow-
ing the Oct. 28 meeting when coun-
cil voted to increase the stipend
from $250 to $300 which they felt
the representative deserved.
Clerk Helen Grubb told council
that the East Wawanosh clerk con-
tacted her after reading of the deci-
sion in a report in The Citizen to
inform her that East Wawanosh
may bill Blyth for a portion of the
special meeting fee that the town-
ship pays the representative in
addition to a stipend of $250. After
learning of this at the Nov. 10
meeting councillors agreed to hold
off on the increase until further dis-
cussion could be held.
