THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, APRIL 21, 1993. Majestic WI installs officers for 1993 - On Wednesday, April 14 the Majestic Women's Institute annual meeting was held in the Brussels library. Twenty-four members and nine guests sat down to a delicious meal catered by the Ethel Country Cooks. Following dinner President Leona Armstrong opened the meeting with a poem called "Spirit of Springtime". The Opening Ode was sang and Mary Stewart Collect recited. Mrs. Leona Foerter brought greetings from the district. The guest speaker Mrs. Barb Pinkney of Listowel, spoke on "Stand up, Speak up and Proud to be a W.I. member." The Institute has been going for 96 years. She stressed the future not the past. She compared it with three different sets of eyes glasses. "Dark" ones — you can't see anything. "Rose" coloured ones — it's like a delusion. "Clear" was compared to the real thing. Ms Pinkney spelled the word Institute like this: I - keep informed. N - need in the community. T - talents, make use of everyone's. I - interest, ask what can be done to help. T - be tolerant, accept change. U - utilize numerous resources, the sky is the limit. T - be trustworthy if you have a task to do, do it, don't let your group down. E - for enthusiastic, be energetic, positive. She closed with two poems - "Advertisement for WA." and "Member". The Hospitality Convenors of the Blyth & District Community Play "Many Hands", will present people with an outstanding opportunity during the play performance period of June 8-19. In connection with the play performances there will be preplay festivities. Each night before the performance the audience will gather at Memorial Hall for the first scene in the play and then join in the "Parade of Promises" down Dinsley Street to the theatre at the Rutabaga factory. "We are looking for groups and individuals to participate in these festivities in the form of entertainers, vendors and parade entrants," said Project Co-ordinator Karen Stewart. We are hoping for a wide variety of single or group entertainers of all ages. This would allow more people to get involved and would not require a huge time commitment from each club, Grand dishes up a reconciliation The Grand Theatre, in association with Theatre New Brunswick, presents Italian Ameri- can Reconciliation, an exuberant romantic comedy by the acclaimed oscar-winning author of Moon- struck.
