Toll and Craig assisted on the
opening goal one and a half
minutes into the game as Stewart
one-timed a quick shot into the net.
Two and a half minutes later
Howson backhanded goal number
two after passes from Ryan
Chamney and Jason Rutledge.
Four minutes into the second
period McNichol picked up his
own rebound off the end boards
and sent a pass into the crease that
was tapped out of the air by
Armstrong and into the net. With
four minutes left in the second
period Blyth increased their lead by
four as passes from Johnston and
Craig sent McNichol in alone for
the breakaway goal.
All Blyth had to do in the third
was protect their lead but they
added two more goals midway
through the period.
Collins' shot was redirected by
Chamney to Rutledge, who slid the
puck home.
With just under six minutes left,
Rutledge fed Christopher Howson,
who put a hard shot on net. The
Lefroy goaltender made the save
but Chamney scored Blyth's final
goal of the season by pouncing on
the rebound and easily sliding the
disc into the wide open net.
A huge Blyth crowd cheered the
boys until the final buzzer and
provided tremendous support until
the end.
Bedlam erupted at the game's
conclusion and only subsided long
enough for Blyth captain Brian
McNichol to claim the James
Kinkly Trophy as OMHA Bantam
`E' All-Ontario champions.
It was a fitting end to a very
successful season for the Bantams
as they had an undefeated regular
season and only lost one game in
their two month playoff odyssey.
The Blyth Fire Department
provided a victory tour of Blyth on
Sunday night for the team.
The '92-'93 Bantams now join
the '71-'72 Blyth Pee Wees as the
only Blyth teams to win an OMHA
All-Ontario Championship. Con-
