George Clarence Greer
George Clarence Greer of Lucknow passed
way in. Deauville, France on June 7, 1984
while in Europe . with the 19th Field
egiment. RCA tour to mark the 40th
1nniversary -of the D 'Day invasion of
Normandy. He was 72. •
Clarence served in the 99th artillery bat-
ery of the 3rd Canadian division as a mem- .
er of the recognizance team, When it landed
B Juno Beach during the Normandy inva-
jon June 6, 1944. He served 21/2 years with
hey Canadian .,armed forces during World
ar Il. Ikwas a member of the Royal Can,
dian Legiion..tiranch 309, Lucknow. •
A prominent Lucknow businessman, he
was associated. with Greer TV and Electric
on Lucknow's main street for 26 years. He
was treasurer of -West Wawanosh Township
for 28 years.. He was also an active member
of Lucknow United Chureh and served on the
church„board as treasurer for -many years, a
osition he held at the time of his death. He
was also a member of church senior choir for
over 40 years.
Born in . West Wawanosh Township on
anuary 3, 1912, he was a sonof the late
ohn Melvin Greer. and Minnie Beaton. He
married Marie Ferguson of Ashfield Town-
s`hip on June 4; 1949 at Ashfield .Presby-
erian Church and they resided on the ,Greer
arm in West Wawanosh for 14 years until
moving to Lucknow in 1963.
lie is survived by his wife, Marie, a son,
lob of Listowel and a daughter, Donna of
ondon. A sister, Louise, Mrs. Eric Edmon-
on of Maple, a brother, Harold of West
Wawanosh and his step mother, Grace
Campbell of Lucknow, also survive.'
He was predeceased by his parents, and
an infant daughter in February of 1951.
The Lucknow ` branch of the Royal
Canadian. Legion held a memorial service at
the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral
Home in Lucknow on June 17, 1984 at 8 p.m.
The funeral was conducted from Lucknow
United Church on June 18, 1984 at 2 p.m. by
Rev. 'Warren McDougall.
Honorary` pallbearers ; we`r`e Robert Mac-
Kenzie, Eldon Bradley, George Tervit,
Wally King, Bill Hogg and Lloyd Elliott.
Pallbearers were Torn Andrew,George
Anderson, Frank Hawthorne and Angus
MacDonald:
Flower -bearers were Alex Andrew, Leon -
rd (Punch) MacDonald, Bill Bolt, Vernon
Hunter and Cliff Crawford.
Burial followed in Greenhill Cemetery,
Lucknow.

(BUSTER) ANDERSON
John Clayton (Buster) Anderson of
Dungannon died in University Hospital,
Landon' on Friday, June 1 at the age of 62.
He was born in Auburn on November 7,
1921 to Jarvis and Gertrude (Ladd)
Anderson.
The late Mr. Anderson was retired. He
as an adherent of Dungannon United
Church and was a member of Branch 309 of
le Royal Canadian Legion in Lucknow.
He married Cynthia Fisher in Chatham,
ngland on August 15, 1945. She survives
m.
Also surviving him are two sons, Barry at
ome and John of . Lucknow; three
ughters, Gail Huber, Cheryl, and Carol
chard, all of Goderich; his mother,
ertrude Park of R.R. 1 Dungannon; three
sters, Verna Hallam and Mildred Lawlor
f Auburn and Mary Shultz of Dungannon;
nd one brother, William Park of
ungannon.
He was predeceased by his father, Jarvis

A memorial service was held at the

ucknow on Sunday, June 3 at 9 p.m.
A funeral service was held Monday, June
4 at 2 p.m. The Reverend Robert Roberts of
he United Church officiated.
Pallbearers were Colin Chisholm, Larry
Park, Robert Bechard, Donald Wright,
rry Anderson and Francis Huber.
Flower bearers were Barry Bechard,
Christopher Bechard, , Nicole Anderson,
Loree Huber, Michael Huber and Connie
Huber.
Interment was in the Dungannon
emetery with a graveside service
Conducted by the Reverend Robert Roberts.
