Ritchie closed the devotions with prayer.

trip last year to England and Scotland and a

Cora Cranston -returned Monday evening
from Ottawa where she visited a few days
with Mary and Harold Haekett,�wh `recently

The monthly meeting of the Pine .River
U.C.W. met Tuesday evening,. June 11 at
the home of Mrs. George Messenger with 26
ladies and 'four visitors present.
The meeting was conducted by- the
president Ruth Farrel in the chair. Ruth
opened the meeting with a reading.
The minutes of the last meetingwere read
by Norma Humphrey : and the roll call was
answered by bringing a friend to the
meeting.
The:Kountry Kitchen Bazaar was discus-
sed and there will be clothes for Cabbage
Patch dolls at the bazaar.
A. prayer was offered by Ruth Farrell' and
• the meeting was turned over. to the convener
Phyllis Elliott and her assistant, Rev. Robert'
Stokes. Phyllis and Rev. Stokes conducted a
lively debate on the issue of ordaining
declared homosexuals in the United Church.
Rev. Stokesspoke on the issue saying there
are many people who are misinformed about
a homosexual's lifestyle and understanding
is required to. resolve this issue.
The guest speaker, Janet Pearson Roth. of
Evanston, Illinois gave an interesting talk on
the seminary where her husband, Dean is a
student.

Steven's birthday which was also the same

• Delegates from Lucknow who attended the
78th annual Ontario Horticultural Confer-
ence in. Sudbury last week were Mary
MacGillivray, Jean Conley, Joan Robinson
and Jean Whitby. Art Ernewein chauffered
the ladies except Jean Whitby, who went by
bus, as she is going on to visit her daughter
in British Columbia:
