On Wednesday, June 6, four enthusiastic
members of the Ripley Horse Club travelled
to Tagalong Stables in Fordwich for, their
third meeting.
Carolyn deBoer, who trains and shows
-- Arabian horses, gave an excellent lesson on
huntseat, headset of the horse and posture,
and position of the rider.
Thenext meeting will possibly involve
trail ride.

On June 7 Licknnws won their second
straight game of the season defeating
Paisley 11 5. Lutknow pitchers „Stevenson,
Murray and Todd struck_ out.17 batters but
gave up 15 walks.

While Clint Murray, Scott Nicholson and
Steve, Porter had two runs each. ,

Last Thursday, June7, the. Ladies° Legion
A'uxiliary" served a delicious dinner at the
•arentt arid Daughter banquet for the
Brownies and*Old Guides Badges, mostly
Wiwitit-,,the Camp • May 18 to 22 were
pfesented., to the girls. And the Mother's
• COMmittee of the Brownies and Guides gave
a gift to therleaders.'

Meeting 1 of the Whitechurch 4-H garden
club was held May 12 at Mildred Purdon's
home with four members in attendance.
An election of officers resulted .in the
following: president, Karen Elliott vice
president, Marilyn Jamieson; press report-
er, Cathy Dow. •
The leaders for this club are Mildred
Purdon and Kathleen Elliott.
Discussion centred on different vegetables
and how to, _grow them.
Meeting 2 of the Whitechurch 4-H garden
club was held June 1 at the home of
Kathleen Elliott.
Members discussed the different types of
soil and took soil tests which they sent to
Guelph University. They also discussed
thinning and transplanting.
The members decided on the name,
Whitechurch Green Thumbs for this club.

Wingham Voice for Life is .planning a
garage and bake sale this year. It will be
held in 'Whitechurch at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. George Lubbers Friday, June 29 and
conclude at noon on the following day. '
It was decided to sponsor T.V. advertising
again during the summer months. •
The Alliance for Life .COnference for
pro-life groups across Canada will be held at
McMaster University in Hamilton from July
5 to July 8. Each executive member of Voice
for Life was given information and registra-
tion forms.
A number of events this spring were
considered successful. Most notable among
these was the Wingham Pro -Life annual
dinner, held at the Presbyterian Church. The
dinner, provided by the ladies of the church,
was superb and the music was appreciated
by all. The Folk Choir of Sacred Heart
Church, directed by Mrs. Campeau, sang at
this event, as did the double trio from the
Presbyterian congregation.
In May, the Kincardine group also held its
annual dinner. The speaker was Ian Hunter,
a professor of law at the" Univeiiity of
Western Ontario‘, Several pro-life groups of
this' eegionitook part in a walk from Victoria
Park to Victoria Hospital in London. Over
1000 marchers attended.
