to plant trees and landscape around the
treatment facility, adding that Greg Alton
of Huron Landscaping said it is possible for
the treatment facility and its surrounding
area to be landscaped . to, look quite
pleasant. .
"We're not worried about looking atit,
we're worried about smelling it," remark
ed Allan Hackett. "How can you pump raw
sewage up to this holding tank and not get
smell?" .
"With this Type of separation process,
the 'smell is so slight it dissipates in the
air," answered Burns. "We are more than
enough` feet away from nearby residences
that We could almiost put in a lagoon., he
added
"But Goderich has complaints and so
does Brussels," said' Walden,
"Most complaints in. Goderich come
from farms in. the area spreading liquid
manure and people .think it is the sewage
treatment plant," noted Burns, "I. am:
confident odour will not be a problem."
Glen Walden asked why Lucknow
'council does not go back and negotiate with
Floyd Milne for the property originally
proposed, "I don't think T have ever heard
anybody say anything against that.' site.
There •is considerable unrest about this
site.,
"I think in all honesty you feel too, that
was the best A. site," observed West
Wawanosh councillor Bruce Raynard of
Lucknow council. '
"But we don't own the land," said
Councillor Murray.
"We were out to. see Floyd •after he
withdrew the option and he said absolutely
no way. As far as I'm concerned the village
has spent enough money on that site."
"I felt when a new location was found for
,the plant it would alleviate the problem,"
said Lucknow reeve George Joynt, refer-
ring to council's proposal to move the
treatment facility further east behind the
buffer of treeson the West Wawanosh site.
"It never once struck me that this site
would bother anybody," said councillor
Mann. ',`I thought it would,be an ideal spot.
I never ever gave it a thought it would
bother you people, Maybe I was stupid.
Maybe I wasn't thinking," said Councillor
Mann.
Councillor Murray said council asked .
Burns Ross where they 'should go from
here; if this new site still is not agreeable
and Ross told ' council, if the Ministry of
•
Environment persues it, the' treatment
plant will not be moved further east on the
Snobelen property. .
If it goes to the Ontario Municipal Board,
Lucknow will not get the site or it will be
approved and if it is, the plant will go on
the original site on the Snobelen property,
said Murray.
Allan Hackett asked if there was another
site available and councillor Herb Clark
- said "not to my knowledge„''
Councillor Murray. poiinted out council
has walked over another site, which isn'tt
available for the tile bed system but
whether the treatment facility could go.
there, whether that : is any better, or
whether it is only rearranging the problem,
he didn't know. `I doesn't seem right that
the ratepayers _are being used this way
when there is another property that could
be ,used," said councillor Raynard.
"I agree," said Murray, "but what
would you dowhen the ' man says the
property is not for sale. Milne told me he
will never say why he made his decision.
He said council will never own it. 1 asked
him .if it was money. 0
"He said he will never tell us," said
