.:Lions Clubs from all of southwestern
Ontario (Districts A-1, A-2, A-9 and A-15)
have "Joined Hands to Answer the Call to
Serve". Two hundredand thirty-five clubs
have collectively accepted the challenge to
cover the exterior of London's `Ronald
McDonald House" with bricks.
The total number of bricks requiredto
cover the exterior of the building exceeds
35,000. Numbered certificates, each rep-
resenting a brick, will be sold for $5.00
each, to individuals and businesses.
Certificates are now available from local
Lions Club members:
The Ronald McDonald House, currently
under construction at 741 Baseline Road
East in London, will serve all of south-
western .Ontario. It. will be •a homeaway
from home for families who must travel to
London's hospitals for diagnosis and treat-
ment for their seriously ill children. This
twelve family home will ease some of the.
stress families feel: in dealing with their
child's illness, a strange city and the
financial burden of being so far away from
home.
Any person or business interested in
purchasing a ,brick for Ronald McDonald
House may contact Lucknow 'Lions Club
president, Tom Helm, or any Lucknow

McDonald House in London.. This non
profit corporation is comprised of parents,
many residing outside of London, whose.
children have- or have had cancer related -
diseases, representatives from Our Special
Children, the London Parent's Perinatal ' •
Association,. Victoria Hospital Corporation
and McDonald's Restaurants.
Victoria Hospital Corporation has donat-
ed an acre of land on the Westminister
Campus, near the site of the. new Child-
ren's Wing off Baseline Road. The House,.
will be ready to receive guests during the
summer of 1985,:
The first Ronald McDonald House in
Canada opened in Toronto on April 10,
1981. Since then houses have been opened
or are underway in Halifax, Montreal,
Vancouver, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Cal-
gary, Saskatoon and Ottawa.
