Students complete projects

St. Joseph's School, Kingsbridge has
been very busy since school started with
many activities and projects-
Mrs. McDonagh's classroom has just
completed prbjects in history, science and
music. They are now writing stories in
creative writing, Students from this class-
room are enjoying this school year so far.
Grades four, five and six, and Miss
Devlin are planning a play for :the
Christmas concert. Auditions are being
held to decide parts. Together with Mrs.
McDonagh's class they travelled to the
West West Wawanosh Conservation Area.
Mrs. Lalonde's grade 2 - 3 class has also
,been busy. They have been having many
special days such as Nonsense Day. Their
room looks very. eheerful with many decor-
ations they made.
The new kindergarten students in Mrs.
Eedy's class seem to be adjusting well and
grade 1 is accepting more difficult work.

Senior students attended -a soccer tourn-
ament on October 1. The girls team played
first. The score was 0 - 0. A, kickoff was
held and St. Joseph's lost- to St, Mary's,
Goderich 5 - 4. The score for the boy's team
was 3 - 1 for Clinton. Good tries for -both
teams.
A cross - country , meet was held on
October 16. Students on the teams have
/been practicing each noon hour. Everyone
hopes that all of the runners put forth their
best efforts.
Students have been selling magazines
for, the past few days with success. Funds
raised will go towards the, cost of class
trips. We hope we -will be able to sell many
more magazines.
Students release balloons

Dave Dawson, manager of the Lucknow
• District Co-op, brought a helium .tank and
two helpers to blow up a balloon for ;each
• child in the .school, October 15. Each
balloon had the child's name and address
• in it so if they are found the finder may
contact Brookside, The student whose
balloon. goes the furthest gets a prize. The
balloons were all released together at
noon.. What a -beautiful sight, as they,
floated off info ,the sky!
Mr. Dawson came back on Tuesday to
blow' up balloons for the second kinder-
garten class. -
Regional cross country was held on
• ." October 16' at Brookside with Victoria,
Robertson; Colborne , Holmesville
• school's Participating.. Brookside received
• two medallions, one won by Julie Pentland
and one by Warren Andrew. Brookside
also received two pennants, one .for midget
boys and one for intermediate girls.
Bees caused a problem as a swarm was
stirred up and stung several children.

• Corps were on hand. Injuries included a
• fractured arni, possible fractured ankle and
•, • a hand cut requiring stitches. •

• visited Bell's Fruit Farm and Zehrs in
Goderich last week. They brought back
• various. fruits and vegetables to sort and
• classify. They'made apple sauce and stone
soup from these products. •
• Mrs. Young's grade two class also went
to Bell's Fruit Farm and they also eujoyed
making soup and apple sauce. • •
On Wednesday Warren Robinson was a
guestf story reader in • Mrs. Worrsell's
• grade three class. They 'started an
individualized reading program using the -
series of monster books.
Kindergarten got a head start on Hallow-
e'en and made pumpkin faces.
Mr. Sygrove had Mr. Warren Robinson
attend his classroom where he told a story
• .and taught them a new song.
• Mrs. Graham's grade 8 health class is
• taking an artificial respiration cburse from
• the St. John's Ambulance and they can be
•certified if they. wish. •
• On Wednesday, because' of wet weather,
the students council • had a record hop
• which was held during the noon hour.

• was held in the Bruce Room of the Hartley

- socialized over coffee while registration as

• Vera Vasey, Cargill, conducted an

Several musical were rendered
by the Fisher Trio of Clifford and also by
nine-year-old Jordan Barnes, a pianist' and
recent scholarship winner.
Following , the hot buffet dinner the
annual reports were given by the secretary,
Ivy Gross, and the treasurer, Mary
Fleming.
Lillian Thompson of District 10, who had
• attended the Senate in Toronto, offered
information on policies and services.
• Florence Grant of Teeswater presented'
, an interesting travelogue on her trip to
Austria, and also slides on local events.
Jessie Thompson, in her concluding
remarks, exPressed appreciation.
