Dr. K. Alan MacMurchy of Victoria, B.C.
and his mother, Mrs. Allister MacMurchy of
Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Were visiting
their cousins Mr. and Mrs: Cecil Humphrey
of Point -Clark, Mrs, Margaret Ferguson of
Lucknow and Mr. and Mrs, Lester Ferguson
of the Sixth Concession west for two weeks.
Alan, who is taking a course in speaking
Gaelic, Called on Mrs. Albert Picot in
Ripley, to have a little chat in her native
tongue. As well he 'called on Cameron
McAuley,. Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Wells and
Mrs. Bill Arnold, all in Ripley and on Bob
Courtney of Point Clark to get more infor-
mation concerning the McMiirchir,
tree and found them all very helpful. •
Another highlight of the "trip was to
receive his, great grandfather John
Cameron's Gaelic -Bible from Mrs, Mac
Boyd (formerly Edna Cameron of the Sixth
, Con.). They were dinner guests of : Miss
Mary MacDonald who. had various ,old
pic-
tures of the clan dating back to 1848.' Alan
spent many hours exploring. 'local
cemeteries 'including the Huron or Lewis
Cemetery Searching for his kin. Thanks to
Audrey Ferguson forabove information.
Three residents passed away;
In the past couple :Of •Weeks three men
from this area have passed aWay.. In order
they were Elton Orr Of Kincardine township,
Walter Pollock, native of thel2thconcession
west in Huron townsbip; and Clark Coiling
of Lurgan (foot of the 4th con.)
Returned to Huron Villa •
Harold and Tena Wyld of WeSten drove his
mother, Mrs. Mynne ,Wyld back home to
Huron Villa last Friday afternoon. Shespent
the week in Toronto vvilth them. Then, in
turn, Harold and Tena ispent the. weekend

WALTER POLLOCK
A, former native of the 12th concession
west in.Huron township Walter Pollock died
Wingham hospital on Wednesday Oct. 17,
1984. The funeral service was held in Ripley
• at the MacKenzielVleCreath Funeral Home
• with Rev. Warren MacDougall of Lucknow
and Rev. Bob Stokes of Pine River of-
ficiating. Interment followed in Kincardine
Cemetery.
• Surviving are nieces and nephews, and
cousins. He was predeceased by his wife
• Blanche Hooey. They, retired from their
farm on the 12th of Huron a few years ago to
• live,retired in Lucknow.
ROBERT CLARK COILING
Robert Clark Coiling of Lurgan died last
Saturday, October 20; 1984 athis home. He
had been afflicted for, several years with
Amyotrophic Sclerosis - more cornmonly
• known as the Lou Gehrig disease - Lou being .,
a famous baseball player who succurnbed to
the disease. .
The funeral service was teld on Monday
afternoon Oct. 22 at 2 p.m. at the MacKenzie
McCreath Funeral Home in Ripley.. Rev.
Glen Macpherson of $t. Andrews United
Church in Ripley officiated. Interment was
in the Pine River Cemetery just across. the

Hold mother and friend night
. .
On Wednesday the.Dungannon C.G.I.T.
met to set up for the Mother and friend
night on October 18..0ft Thursday theymet
with twelve girls and' 24 guests.
Ellen Errington welcomed everyone and
played a game. Melissa Logtenberg played
the piano •and Cindy Robson talked about
the group and what they did in the past
year and the things corning up. •
• The group sang songs, did a skit on
'Let's Jump'.', and played More games.
Angela and Arletta Glenn, Shannon Kerr,
Jacqui Dawson and Sherry Hodges played
a number on their recorders. Tbe meeting
dosed with a song and taps. Eachgirl. then
served ' tea, coffee and cookies to • their
mother and guest
• Saturday. October 20 nine C.G.I.T. girls,
• Ellen Errington and Penny Hodges went to
Wingham for the C.G.LT.
•-Following worship they sang scings„
played games, made slides and name tags
for Algonquin Park and enjoyed a film.
It was a good day for fellowship and
• meeting new people as about 75 girls from
the area attended.
Hear about Transition House
The ti.C:W, of the Pine River United
Church held its monthly meeting Tuesday
evening,: October 16 at the home of Anne
,Boyd. There were twenty-eight ladies
present. "'-
The conv.eners, Mrs. Robert Stokes and
Mrs. Mervin Funston, opened the meeting
with a hymn. Mrs. Funston read a Bible
reading. • •
• The guest speaker, Karen, Courage Of
Kincardine, gave a very interesting talk on
Transition House, a home for battered
WoMen.
Karen spoke outhe many things that will
and can be done for these women that seek
•their help. It is. very hopeful that the home
will be opened very shortly, as they say
• their is a great need for this in the area.
The meeting was then taken over by the
presOent, Ruth, Farrell. The Kountry
Kitchen bazaar wasAliscussed during the
• business and as always it was a wonderful
success.
The minutes ofthe last meeting were
read by Norma Humphrey. The offering
prayer was given by the president, Ruth
Farrell.
• Grace was sung and 'a lovely lunch was
• served by the lunch committee.. The
• evening ended with a social hour.

We are glad to hear that Edba Ctilbert is
home now from Kincardine Hospital, after
being a patient for a couple of weeks.
Visiting with Wellington and Kae
Webster for a couple of days were their
daughter and granddaughter. Jean and
Tricia Wise of Richfield, Ohio, and on the
weekend they also had their two sons, Jim
and Cecil Webster of Waterloo visit.
Stuart MacLennan is home again after
being a patient in a London Hospital .for
some time. Get well soon.
The family and friends of Bill and
Marion Barrett of Toronto had a, get
• together in Goderich recently to help them •
celebrate their 35th wedding #nniversary.
• A number from this area attended. Marion
• -is the daughter of Rhoda MacKenzie of
Lucknow and the late Henry MacKenzie
and a sister of Ross MacKenzie. • of
Goderich.
• Mrs, Russell (Lesley) Moncrief of
Aylmer was up the other day visiting with
• George and Betty Moncrief.
Rhetta MacLennan enjoyed a visit and
dinner the other day at Point Clark with
Santry and Peggy MacCharles.
