Rabies clinic
To the Editor:
Ontario, and particularly Bruce County,
is an endemic source of rabies'. Rabies is a
fatal disease in human and animal life. The
Federal Ministry. of Agriculture and the
Provincial Ministryof Health have waged a
seesaw battle against' the spread of rabies
for two decades, sometimes winning and
other times facing a rabies outbreak of
epidemic proportions.
In an effort to make further progress
against the disease, 'a major vaccination
program 'for dogs and cats is being imple
mented -in Bruce County.
I personally -plead that owners of
companion animals have their pets vaccin-
ated now! Following are the schedules for
vaccination clinics in the Lucknow area.
Ripley Township Hall October 12, 9.30 - 12
noon; Holyrood Township Hall, October
17, 9.30 = 12 noon; Lucknow Town Hall,
October 18, 1.30 - 4:30 p.m.

Speaks to thankof feeing about Malqwi
The Thankoffering meeting of . the
Lucknow Presbyterian W.M.S. was held on
October 10 in the church • hall.
Mrs. Morgan Henderson presided and
opened the meeting with an appropriate
Thanksgiving verse. The devotions were
taken by Mrs. William Henderson. She
based her message on Psalm 103 and she
stressed the many gifts for which we
should be thankful. She also conducted a
Bible quiz.
Two musical numbers were enjoyed; a
piano duet by Mrs. Bert Moffat and Mrs.
Bruce Raynard and a vocal duet by Mrs.
Austin Loree and Mrs. Ronald Forster.
Two Thanksgiving readings were given by
Mrs. Jim Aitchison. Mrs: Omar Brooks led
in prayer. ` •
The guest speaker, Mrs,. Jinn Brisbin
(formerly Helen MacDonald) told of her
trip to Malawi, Africa and her visit with
Clara Henderson, daughter of Rev. Wil}
liam and Mrs. Henderson. Clara has been
stationed in Malawi for nearly three years
doing Missionary work for the Presbyterian
church. Helen's informal talk about the
country and people was most interesting,
as were her pictures. •
Mrs. Noble Johnston gave the courtesy
remarks. Mrs. Robert 'Reid 'closed with
prayer and a social hour followed.
