Celebrates 9Oth b rthdac

Murdoch M5Donald of Lucknow cele
• brated his 90th birthday at an open house
held on 'Sunday, October. 7 in Ripley. at
the home of his son, Grant -and daughter=
in-law, Barbara.
Approximately 130 guests including re-
latives, friends and . neighbours were'
present to extend congratulations. A smor-
gasbord dinner for the immediate. family -
including Mr, McDonald's twosisters of
Lucknow • and close... relatives and fends'
was enjoyed following the open house,.
Guests attended from Kitchener, Listow-
el,Kincardine, Lucknow, Goderich, Wing -
ham, Ripley and Teeswater.
Mr. McDonald was born on October 11,
1894 and was . raised' on lot 55. and •56,
concession 1. of Huron Township where he
farmed with his mother. He married
Evelyn Ruth Hooey in June, 1933.
They purchased the Walter Steele farm
on concession 1, Huron Township in 1957
and continued farming 'with their son,
Grant until they retired to Lucknow in
1975: Mr. McDonald continued to assist
Grant on the farm until he -sold .them:

lowest paid health unit nurses in Ontario.
The ..1984. salary scale to be effective
September 1, amounts to slightly less than
five per' cent for mostof the nurses.
Registered- nurses will still be paid about
$8,000 per year less, than hospital nurses.
The county's offer took away many of the
benefits . held by the nurses including
retroactivity. to December 16, ' 1983, a gas
allowance that increased with increases in
gas prices,their degree allowance of $400 a,
year and their right to bargain for 1.985.
Donnybrook UCW�
The October meeting of Donnybrook
U.C.W. was held at the home of Donna
,Rieman on October 9. Ruth Lardy opened
the meeting with the call to worship. Alice
Jefferson' read• the scripture.
Ruthgave the meditation on Courage
and a prayer. Alice read an article on
Korean Women which emphasized -male
dominance in that country and a reading on,
Women's ' Concerns written by a lady
minister also describing the difficulties in
male dominated profession: '
Margaret Hildebrand condupted the
business and Lois •Chamney and Jean
Johnston were responsible' for the 'delicious
Lunch.
Fitness Fellas'play
volleyball game

The Port Albert Fitness Fellas held their
Sth meeting on October ' 10 at Brookside
School. . '
The meeting began with various exer-
cises led by five the , members.
Next on 'the :program was a volleyball
game against the Dungannon Club. Games
were played and everyone had lots of fun.
After the games, lunch, pr ovided by the
members, was 'enjoyed by all.

Collin:".god are pleased .to announce the
arrival of their daughter, Ashley Anne, at
York. Central Hospital, Richmond Hill;on
September 28, 1984. Proud grandparents

Kinloss township council
holds court of revision
Kinloss council met for the ' regular
session on October 2 with Reeve Barry
Johnston and all council members present.
Court of revision wasopened for the
Black Creek north west section municipal
drain repair and improvement 1984, and
was closed accordingly as there were no.
appeals. Third reading was then given to
by-law 144984 to provide forthe. drainage
works. Tenderswere opened for the con-
struction of the drain and that of , Hanna
and :Hamilton Construction was accepted
for $4,418.68.
Applications for building permits were
accepted for Jim Murray, lot 4, concession
5 for alivestock barn, for John Stein, lot 24,
concession 9, for anaddition to an existing.
barn, for Bevin Woods, lot 210;. plan 240,
Range 1 SDR to erect a garage, and for
Lynwood Geddes, lot 4, Range .1: SDR for
an addition to a residence.
• Council'passed.a motion that the council
of. the- Township • of Kinloss does not
support the reduction in membership of the
Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority to
23 municipal appointees.
General accounts for $15,095.95 and
highways accounts for $11,727.49 , were
ordered paid.
On September 17 council accepted the
tender of Wayne Bushell for $3,682.00 to
construct the Stirling Municipal Drain and
the quotation of Corrugated' Pipe company
was accepted for $6,892.06 to supply
corrugated pipe for the drain. •
Bylaws were given two readings pertain-
ing to maintenance of the Ross, Johnston,
Murray, Branch AB of the Murray and the
Emerson Drain Extension municipal.

The Saugeen Valley, Conservation Auth-
ority is .requested to redefine the Environ-
mental Protection zone of the south part of
lot 2, Range 3 SDR.
A large stone from •the .property of
Leonard 'Clarke has been placed immedi-
ately east, of the Township office ' as part of
the Township Bicentennial project. A suit-
able metal plaque will be attached' to the
stone in recognition of reeves, councillors,
clerks, -treasurersand road superinten-
dents'. service 'to . the - Township.
