South Kinloss WMS hear ti ankoffering message
The Fall Thankoffering meeting of South
Kinloss W.M.S. was held October 2 at the
home 'of Mrs. Harold Campbell.
The president; Mrs. John Mowbray,
gave the call to worship and welcomed all
to the meeting. Thanksgiving hymns had
been chosen by ,the directors. Taking part
in the Prayer Circle were- Mrs. Leonard
Clarke, Mrs. Steer and Mrs. Evan. Keith.
Mrs. Lloyd MacDougall introduced the
guest speaker, Mrs. Hugh Nugent. She
• had prepared a challenging. Thankoffering
message concluding that we must strive for
• deeper faith and, understanding and as
• Christians should influence those, around
us and strengthen each other. Mrs. Nugent
was thanked by Mrs. Ted Collyer and
presented with a gift.
The offering was received and dedicated
with prayer by Mrs. Harold Campbell.
Mrs. Allison .Ramsay read an, inspiring
poem, Climb.
Fourteen members answered the roll call.
with a Bible. verse with the word "Idol":
During the business period an invitation
to Whitechurch Thankoffering meeting
October 17 was read; also a thank you from
Harry and Mary Lavis for serving at their
50th wedding anniversary tea. It was
decided to . send a donation to Christian
Blind Mission Internatienal. •
Mrs. Leonard Clarke offered to be
hOstess for the November meeting lo
held in the church, Mrs. Evan Keith .and
•
Mrs. John Forster volunteered toserve on
.the nominating committee for the annual
•meeting. Mrs. Nugent reported on the
Ladies' Camp held this year in September.
Mrs, Lloyd MacDougall gave' a timely
reading, Autumn is Here, Mrs,, Herb
Buckton led the Bible Study on Material-
ism, Members read passages relating to
the study and took part in the ,discussion.
Mrs. John Forster gave the reading, , The
Bishop and , the Boy. .
Courtesies were given by Mrs. Ted
Collyer and Mrs. Lloyd MacDougall gave
the closing prayer. Grace was sur)g and a
tasty '1inch was served by the hostess and
directors, Mrs. • MacDougall, Mrs. Collyer
and Mrs. Schmidt.
Lucknow UCW units hold October meetings
Unit 2
Unit #2 of •Lucknow U.C.W. met on
Tuesday, October 2 at the home of Mrs.
George Jardine. Mrs. Glen Walden 'wel-
corned everyone and gave, a call to worship
on Praise, which was • the theme of the
meeting. Eleven members answered the
roll. call, with a' Bible verse with praise.
Mrs, Eldon Bradley was covener and she
opened with some thoughts on Indian
Summer and, the grandeur of its.colonr and
scents, and a.poem, Has Praise Become an
Oft -neglected Art?' •

The scripture Psalm was read by Mrs.
Drennan. The meditation was taken by
Mrs.,Wilbur Brown and Mrs. Glen Walden
which illustrated • occasions when people
realized how thankful they must be and
they showed gratitude.
Mrs. Neil MacKenzie gave a reading on lovely lunch was served. and a social time
Kindness. Grace Campbell gave a reading • followed.
on Thanksgiving.
Mrs. Bradley gave ank interesting story
from the Mission Magazine regarding a
O Canadian born Japanese girl who had
O become disabled through a car accident.
With her musical talents she was able to
attend the World Council of Churches this
summer in Vancouver.
Mrs. Walden told about the United
Church Hospitality tent which was at the
. Plowing Match this year.. Following the
announcements, Mrs: Lawrence MacLeod
gave :an article • on Stewardship, A
celebration of our roots, Methodism. Mrs..
Walden thanked the hostess and the
committee in charge of the meeting, and
closed with a poem, Thank You God. A

• Unit 3 of Lucknow UCW met in the
church parlour welcomed by Mrs. Charles
McDonald. She , read a poem, Autumn
Colours.
• Eighteen members and one visitor
answered . the roll call. Mrs. Andrew
• Ritchie gave the financial report It was
decided a clock for the 'church kitchen be
• purchased as a memorial to Mrs. Ted Rice.
Mrs.. Charles McDonald and Mrs: Harvey
Webster are to be the purchasers,
Mrs. William, Hunter; reported on cards
sent and visit made to the sick.- Mary
MacGillivray asked for helpers to tie quilts
at the church, also goer' used men's white
