Bible Society'sees film on Africa
The Kinlough and, District Bible Society
meeting was held here in the Presbyterian
Church on Tuesday evening. Mrs, Carman
Courtney played sacred music as folks
gathered and Mrs. Tom McDonald wel-
comed everyone at the door.
Walter Breckles presided and read the
scripture lesson. Rev. D. L. Howlett,
District Secretary of London, led in prayer.
A trio of Ann Stam, Mrs. Ron Stanley and
Walter Breckles sang several hymns and
led in a sing -a -long accompanied by
Bernice Courtney. Mrs. Bruce Bushel and
Mrs. William MacPherson sang a lovely
duet. Lorraine accompanied on .the piano.
Rev. Howlett read a portion. of Icripture
and spoke of the great need for more
scriptures for Africa, for the spirit of God's
moving in a 'wonderful way. The Bible.
Society provides Braille New Testaments
for sightless people free of charge.
He then showed a film on Africa,. The
Journey of Hope. It showed the real
enthusiasm and joy of the native people
when they received the gospels in their
own language and learned for the first time
of Jesus and -His saving grace. All felt very
thankful in their small way that they had a
part in this great work of spreading the
good news' of Salvation. '
Karen Hedley played lovely sacred
melodies on her clarinet.. R. Hodgins took
up the offering and offered prayer.
• Rev. Howlett thanked the Kinlough.
Branch for the splendid meetings that are
arranged and for all who took part and for
the executive and canvassers for their
important part. He presided for the
election of •officers who were returned
unaninrysly.'
The canvassers were asked to get their
packets back to the treasurer, Mrs. Frank
Maulden as soon as possible. Mrs. Stam KINLOUGH
gave the closing prayer.
Sympathy is extended to Mrs. Weir by May Boyle
(Grace) Eckenswiller of here and Annie , '
Scott of Ripley in the death of their brother,
the late Earl Morland of London. The
funeral was at the Needham Funeral Home
on Wednesday. •
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Breckles returned
home after a nice holiday near Kingston.

Mrs. Jack Barr •returned home from
Kincardine and District General " Hospital
on Tuesday. We hope you feel better,

Aileen Gelman and her friend of Detroit,
Mr. and 'Mrs. Kenneth Hodgins and the
girls from Niagara Falls and Bob Hodgins
of Kinloss were Thanksgiving visitors with
Marretta Hodgins.
Mrs. Midford Wall, concession 10,
attended the bridal shower for her cousin,
Julie, on Sunday last at 'the home of Julia
Johnston's sister, Mrs.. Jackie Bruce;
Kincardine.
Mary Stewart of Kincardine visited over
the weekend with Mr.. and Mrs. Tom
McDonald. • .
Mrs." Douglas Tiexeira (Irlma Hodgins)
of South' Burnaby, B.C. is spending a
month with her mother, Agnes Hodgins
and other relatives and friends.
Mr. ' and Mrs. Richard Page and family
and Dr. and Mrs. Iman Mohamed and the
boys visited .over Thanksgiving with their

Janet of Ottawa were home over the
Thanksgiving weekend; also his sister,
Kathryn Fraser, Edwin and Janice of
Armow who came especially to help.
-celebrate their parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Edburt Bushell's 45th wedding anniver-
sary.

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Burt had a lovely
anniversary dinner in their honour. Then
relatives, neighbours and friends were
invited for a pleasant social evening. May
Boyle read an address of good wishes to
Edburt and Dunedin, and Walter Breckles
on behalf of all thanked Bill and Bernice for
their kind hospitality and asked the
blessing. Many pictures were taken as the
Bushells cut the lovely anniversary cake.
All were invited to a well laden table
served smorgasbord style and later the two
granddaughters, Janet Bushell and Janice
Fraser served 'everyone cake and, ice
cream. Both Edburt and Dunedin replied
fittingly, thanking everyone for the lovely
gifts and pleasant social evening in their
honour. We all extend congratulations to
this couple at this time.
Several from our area attended the
wedding reception at Ripley on Friday
night for Mr. and Mrs. John Husk.
