Lucknow couple return from trip to Maritimes ,and Gaspe
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Collinson returned
home to Lucknow from a 16 day tour of
Gaspe and the Martimes. The weather there
WWI beautiful.
Grace Hopf, a most able and courteous
driyer, conducted a group of . graduate
nurses.of•the Hamilton General Hospital as
they travelled about on a happy reunion tour
September 15. Some of the events included a
luncheon at the home, of their classmate,
Mary Henderson, a tour of Wingham and
District Hospital and an evening at the Blyth
Festival Theatre. 1
Recent visitors with Jennie McPherson
and Margaret Black and family were Mr.
and Mrs. Tom MacFarlane,
Isobel Thompson of Caledon. and Bill
Thompson of British Columbia visited with
Jennie McPherson and. Margaret Black and
attended the anniversary service September
23 at the St. ' Helens United Church.
Mrs. Steve Caslick, Joel and Michael
called on their grandmother, Jennie Mc-
Pherson last week.
The transportation Safety Association of
Ontarioheld a drivers improvement course
at the• Lucknow Public School on Monday
and Tuesday night, September --24 and 25.
Those attending , were . from Teeswater,
Brussels, Wingham, Whitechurch, Dungan-
non, ' Holyrood, Kincardine, Ripley and
-Lucknow.
Joe and Mary Lund of Kelvington,
Saskatchewan visited the past week with Mr.
and Mrs. Lloyd MacDougall and other
relatives in the area. Mary's mother, the
former Kate MacDougall, was born at Grey
Ox.
Jim and Grace Dollery of Bayfield visited
with Mr, . and Mrs• Lloyd. MacDougall
recently..
Many families enjoyed a day or two atthe
international plowing match held in the
Teviotdale area, even though it rained
almost every day. Gordon Lyons of R. R. 1
Lucknow had the misfortune to be in the area
where a team of horses bolted and is a
patient in the Wingham and District
Hospital, after being treated at Palmerston
Hospital. We wish Gordon . a speedy
recovery.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim McNaughton and Jessie
Green took ' the Chi-Cheemaun ferry to
Manitoulin Island and toured Sault Ste.
Marie, Agawa Canyon, Mackinac Island, St.
Ignace and . Frankenmuth, .Michigan, They
also were on a tour recently to the Thousand
Islands, Gananoque, Upper Canada Village
and the Cullen Gardens, near Whitby. On

for their meeting.
The call to 'worship was given by Mrs.
Allan MacDonald: Mrs. Donald Simpson
gave the devotions, Overcoming Loneliness,
closing with prayer. Roll call was an item
from the Record. ' Offering was taken with
the offertory prayer by Mrs. Cameron Cook.
The fifth chapter of the Study Book,
Church Development, was -conducted by
Mrs. Allan MacDonald. They have many
diverse problems in Africa, drought, exploit-
ation, misrule, rivalry among tribes to name
a few. There is a great need for better
governing, people to guidefinances, medic-
ine, help to grow better crops and get good
wells and of course money to find many of
these; things and give aid during the
continuing drought.
Mrs: Lloyd Collins read -'a poem, Autumn
-Reflections, and also gase some highlights
from the .August - September Glad Tidings.
Mrs. Allan MacDonald conducted the
business and closed the meeting.
CGIT enjoys cookout at Paradise Lake
Lucknow CGIT began the fall season with
a cook -out at Paradise Lake. The girls had a
Scavenger Hunt and everyone enjoyed songs
and worship by the lake: • •
Three new members, Marlene. Martin,
Liliana Hunter and Jenny Cooper, were
welcomed to the group.
A)Tri=County Rally will be held on October
20 in Wingham .United Church. The theme,
• Young and . Alive in '85, is a kickoff for
Jamboree Canip in. Algonquin Park, June,
1985.
To start fund raising for.. Jamboree,
Lucknow CGIT is sponsoring a Regal Party
on Thursday, October 4;
An update of letters and family informa-
tion was given for the CGIT's foster sister,
Anelene No 1eza in the
Philippines.
Election .of officers is to be held at this
week's meeting. The ,members are prepar-
ing for church participation .. to celebrate
CGIT Week October 14 - 21.

Mr. and Mrs. Mel Webster of Clinton and
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Webster of Edmonton;
Alberta visited in Lucknow over the weekend
and attended the golden wedding anniver-
sary of Harvey and Edith Webster. Mr. and
Mrs. • Jack Webster then travelled to
Kirkland Lake to visit with Jack's brother
(James) Ewart Webster and his wife and
family, who are going to return to Lucknow
to visit other relatives and friends in the
area. .
Beryl Hunter visited for ten days recently
with Mr. and Mrs. Keane and family of
Newmarket and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Hunter
of Pefferlaw.
Visiting over the weekend with Ada
Webster were Ed Arens Sr. and Mrs. and
Mrs. Ed Arens Jr. of Indianapolis, Indiana;
Eunice McLeod and son, Robert of Toronto
and Mr. and Mrs. Jack. Webster of Edmon-
ton, Alberta: They attended the golden

stay in hospital will not be long.
