Only Out with the old and in with the new was the order of the day last week as thousands of new and up to date telephone directories were distributed in Wingham and other district centres. This year more than 17,850 tele- phone books Were distributed in the area compared to 15,750 last year. Indicative of telephone growth in Whigham alone, this year the number of directories sent out to customers totals 1,720 compared to 1,640 last year. Because of the large number of new and changed listings contain- ed in the new direetbry, H, P. Johnston, Bell manager for this territory, has suggested that the old books be discarded as soon as the new ones are received. "Past experience", he said, "has shown that many wrong numbers and unnecessary cans to infortna- Lion result when customers don't bring their telephone numbers up to date.". In order to help solve this problem the Bell offers a Blue oolt for compiling personal lists of frequently-called numbers. Copies are available for the ashing frorn the local business office. In addition to 'Wingham, the new directory also serves Durham, Hanover, liarri sten, Lit ch n ow, Mount Forest, Paltrieraten, Walker. tort and other nearby COnlintalitie4. • Heater Element —4200 wafts, 230 volts He may call on you!
