PONY IS DEER
HUNTERS' VICTIM
Just a week ago Gordon West
went out in the morning and• found
his :Shetland pony mare, Cindy, ly-
ing 'against the barn, dead. She had
a bullet wound through her neck
and had obviously bled to death.
Cindy, who Was brown with white
markings, it believed to have heed
shot by poachers jacklighting deer.
She had apparently been shbt borne
distance away and had dragged
herself to the barn to die. Her 'es-
timated value ivas $350, There It
no insurance covering such a kill-
ing.
The pony was shot on Mr, West's
property despite the fact that it is
posted with "No Trespassing"
signs, I-Xis farm Is Just outside the
town limits, on the Oliphant road.
Gordon said he had no objection to

In Madrid, Spain
George Allen, art director for
the J. Walter Thompson Advertis-
ing Company, in Chicago, left New
York :by plane on Thanksgiving
Day for a holiday in Europe.
While in Europe Mr. Allen will
visit 'Max T. Stewart, who is Com-
mercial Counsellor for Canada at
the Canadian embassy in Madrid,

Wardr?be Workers
Met 'on Friday
The second meeting of the 'Wing-
ham Wardrobe Workers was held
in the town hail on 'Friday with 13
members :present. The meeting op-
ened by singing "0 Canada" and
repeating the 4-1-1.Pledge and mot-
to.
The minutes were read by the
president; Mary Joan Lapp and
Ann Currie, the secretary, called
the roll, which was "My present
type of clothes storage".
Mrs. Currie discussed page four
in the members' pamphlet, the
subject being on general appear-
ance, ,material and construction of
the clothes closet.'
Mrs. Currie discussed material
needed for the next meeting. She
also demonstrated how to make a
hat standard and each girl made
one.- Then she covered a hat box
and ,the girls covered theirs fol-
lowing the demonstration.
'Mrs, Currie gave the home as-
signment 0.nd all sang "The More
We Get Together" to bring the
meeting -to a close. '

FOR SANDWICHES
Take 1 cup of flaked fish or shell-
fish, using -any of the varieties in-
dicated, then combine with the
ingredients listed after it
Crab—a-lalf cup diPed celery,
half cup diced• cucumber, third cup
mayonnaise.
Chicken Haddie—Quarter tea-
spoon basil, half teaspoon tarra-
gon, quarter cup chopped celery,
2 tablespoons chopped olives, quar-
ter cup mayonnaise.
Halibut (or any other cooked
fish) — Quarter teaspoon salt, 3•
strips bacon cooked till crisp, then
crumbled, 1 tablespoon of finely
chopped onion, eighth teasppon
Worcestershire sauce, 3 tablespoons
mayonnaise,
Smoked Fish-2 tablespoont fine-
ly chopped onion, half teaspoon
prepared 'mustard, 2 tablespoons
mayonnaise. '
Lobster—Quarter cup slivered al-
monds, half cup Afinely chopped cel-
ery, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, quar-
ter cup mayonnaise,
Salmon — Quarter' cup finely
choppedk nuts; quarter cup finely
chopped celery, quarter cup may-
onnaise,
Salmon-2 tablespoons prepared
horseradish, 2 tablespoons mayon-
naise.
Tima—Quarter cup finely chop-
ped celery, 1 teaspoon minced on-
ion, 1 tablespoon chopped capers,
quarter cup Mayonnaise.
Tuna—Quarter cup of chopped
green pepper, quarter elm chopped
ripe oliVes, 1 teaspoon lemon Juice,
qharter cup mayonnaise.
