played here on Saturday afternoon
and Hilda Brown, of town had the
high 'triple, 736. A member of the
Goderich team, Marilyn Bannister

HOLD UP GAME
On Saturday afternoon`at South-
ampton the Wing-ham Sunocos lost
another close ball game by the
score of 2-1. The Wingham boys
lost the game -in the. fiist inning
by committing ,three costly errors
and allowed one hit to produce two
runs.
Bill Hotchkiss pitched anothef
fine gatne, allOWing, only -two._hits
walking two and striking out nine
batters. Brown for the lakesiders
allowed four hits, walked three, hit
one batter and struck out six.
Lorne Gardner had two hits efor
the Sunocos and Doug Murray and
Jim Bain One each.
The game was played in very
cold, weather and was held up in
the sixth inning for a time on ac-
count of rain and a little hail. •

By Southampton 3=2
Southampton defeated the Wing-
ham Sunocos 3-2 to even up the
best-of-seven series for the Inter-
mediate 0 title oh Thursday eve-
ning of last week in Southampton.
The Wingham team outhit the
Southampton team but were un-
able to get the runs across the
plate. The Sunocos left 11 runners
on base and Southampton left only
three.
Southampton scored their three
runs in the last of the eighth in-
ning but the Sunbcos came back
with two in the top bf the nihth
Which was not enough to even the
score.
Bruce Lott had a very unfortun-
ate accident when he fell at third
base and injured his arm, leaving
possible fractures, Doug Murray
eked Out two hits for the Wing-
ham squad, Woods, Hotchkiss and ,
Foxton getting- one each.
