A short visit with Bryon Brooks,
7-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs.
George Brooks, Carling Terrace,
gives a person, satisfaction that
money contributed to the Crippled
Children's • Society is well• spent
and means a great deal to the hap-
piness of many children.
Bryon spent 14 days at Wood-
eden Camp, London, leaving here
on June 24th. He enjoyed every
minute and is eagerly looking 'for-
wand to next' year's camp. ,
To be eligible to attend Wood-
eden a child must be seven years
We got up at 8 o'clock and got
dressed and then we went for
breakfast at 9 o'clock: in a 'big din-
ing-room. , There Was 4 bunch of
tables in the dining room; we
didn't all sit at One table,
Oh, and we raised the flag. T dill

body to help me. 7 always picked
the guys from my cabin, You pull
cilia string and It goes up the other.
Then they called out names -tc,
tell, everyone what to do, Some kids
went swimming. Some went to tar-
get practice and we had real 'bows
and real arrows. When you wir
the first day you get a prize that
you can keep till you go home. I
got a prize, a silver cup, but I had,
to give it back when I came home
There was a rec. -hall and we
played musical, games. They have
all these chairs and they Put an X
on one. They play music and
when the Music stops the ,person
who doesn't have a chair without
the X has to stay out.
And we ,played golf, basketball,
fastball, tennis, and played in a
sand box. We played on bikes
and wagons. We played on hoTses,
teeter-totters and swings. And we
had two slides, One slide goes
down into a well 'but the other one
doesn't. We swim every day.
I got a white badge for my arm
with a "W" on it because we had
the neatest cabin. We got a yel-
low pennant when we got our med-
ical, A nurse was there and she
gave us a medical and then we
got a pennant When she was all
through. '
We went on an overnight hike. It
was five miles. They took us on a
bus. I couldn't stay all night be-
cause it rained, but when you stay
all night, you don't get back to
camp till the next day at dinner
time. We had, stew. I Was glad
'because Terry (, counsellor) didn't
make the fire right and the can
of stew fell off the bars and into
the fire. I don't like stew and I
was 'glad, Then we had bread and
butter and peanut butter and jam,
We had milk and chocolate milk
to drink. When you stay omit hikt
ing at night yon , sleep in sleeping
bags but we had to go back to
camp because of „the rain.

old and wear a brace, Bryon was
seven in 'May and has worn a brace
for over three years. He is enter-
ing Grade II in Wingham Public
School this fall. He found his
first yeat at camp a wonderful ex-
Perience and the following account
is in his own words.
By Bryon Brooks
We 'sleep in cabins. There are
two .rooms with five kids in each
room and a room at the back of
the cabin where the .counsellors
sleep.
We played a. trick on Betsy (an-
other counsellor) when we were
there. We told her we put a• snake
on !her hack. We. thought she
would yell and jump, but she just
sat there.
We went to see the Queen. They
had these buses and we had a card
and when we got there we showed
our card and then they put us in
chairs right up at the front. ,The
Queen was pretty, She ,had some-
thing on her head and I think it
went down to her foot. The car
went right in front .of us and they
threw caramels at us from the car.
When the Queen was gone we went
back and played bikes and wagons
again.
• One day we went to Story Book
Gardens. They had Slippery the
Seal and another seal. I saw pea-
cocks, swans and Peter, Peter
Pumpkin Eater whore they sell
pop anti stuff. They had a monkey
and three little bears. T saw the
three litt'l'e pigs, too. The pigs
were real but the fox wasn't.
We rode on some horses that go
up and down. They had the old
woman's shoe with a slide inside.
There was three doors in the shoe
but you 'couldn't go in the one be-
cause it was locked, We climbed
in at the top and you slide right
down and come out the toe. They
had another slide there, something
like the well at the camp but there
Was goldfish at the bottom. We
had a slide down there and We
pushed the counsellor down the
slid. eo
was a place there where
they had a clock with steps up to
it and mice running up the clock.
Olio got up to the top but ono was
at the bottom,
Another day we went to a fair,
They had horses, a merry-go-
round, ferris wheel anti swings
with chairs that go Wide. out, EV-
ei.sibOdy had two rides on every.
thing,
This One day everybody was
supposed to be fanny. We put a
frog down Betsy's back. One little
boy sat in a tub of water with the
counsellor's clothes on. It Was all
tight because the counsellor gave
him the clothes and let hiM Put
them on.
On Backwards bay it was fun,
nveryhody had to .Wear their
Clothes backwards all day, even the
counsellors, 'Betsy, Bill, John and
Nancy were the "counsellors for our
"Wri6ell'hfia a, Robin Hood Day. We
made broWit paper bats like Robin
and put a feather lit it and
then everybody had to wear the
koblit hood hat all dais'.
We did lots of tilde things' and
the counsellors Were nice, I Want
