held a banquet at the Legion Home
Monday evening to mark the end
of the season and present trophies
to top bowlers.
A new slate of officers was elect-
ed for the coming year, They are
Jim Bain, president; Tarr MacLaur-
in, Ken Zinn, treas-
urer and Doug Wylie,. secretary,
The Burke Trophy was presented
by Cal Burke to the high team for
the year, the "Mustangs." The team
captained by Ian Maclaurin, in-
cluded Wayne Brown, Doug Wal-.
lace, Doug Murray, Jim Wild and
Emerson Hickey,
Prizes were also presented to
Tommy Jardin, high triple; Ron
Bailey, high single, and to Dong
Wallace, for high average,
In -view of the disregard by the general pub-
lie of the recent proclamation issued by:the
Town Council, re the confinement of dogs,
and the fact that they are not to run at laxge
at any time, the Council feels that charges
must he laid under this By-la -W.

Enjoy Banquet
The six Pee Wee hockey teams
that played under the sponsorship
of the Wingham Recreation. Council
were treated to a banquet at the
Legion Home here 'on Tuesday of
last week, The .banquet was spon-
sored by an anonymous donor and
was under the chairmanship of
John Gorbutt, chairman of the
Recreation Council.
Guests at the dinner were John
Brent, who showed films on the
1058 Stanley Cup series; Stewart
Beattie, Ken Hodgkinson, coach;
Doug Lockridge and Raymond
Walker referees for the games,
and Dr., W, McKibbon, Team man-
agers, Lloyd Carter, Roger West,
Ross Dundee, Ross Gordon, Mike
Willie, Willis Hall were also on
hand. Bill Contort, who had also
Worked with the boys, could not be
present dub to illness. Bob Pul-
ford, Toronto Maple Leaf star was
scheduled to be at the dinner, but
Could not be present, Crests were
presented to the all-star team

The Ladies' Auxiliary to the,Can-
adian Legion catered to a ,hanquet
for the Wednesday night Women's
Town Bowling League on Wednes-
day .evening when 51 ladies sat
down' to dinner, The president,
Mrs. Robert Rowsell, was mistress
of ceremonies.
The.'Winning teams were present-
ed with trophies and several other
awards were made. Mrs, Rowsell
won the trophy for high average,
Mrs, Chas. Petrott, high single, and
Miss Sharon Brown, high triple.
Mrs. John Strong ' was high
single in playoffs with Miss Mari-
anne McRibbon high triple, They
each received earrings with match-
ing pins.
Mrs. Mac Peachey was the luelty
ticket holder for the door prize,
Mrs. Rowsell, president, Mrs, Wal-
ter Brown, secretary and Mrs.
Lorne Cardner, treasurer, were
each presented with a cup and
saucer.
An election of officers was held
with Mrs. W. Hedgkinson named
president; Mrs, Harry Faegen, sec-
retary and Mrs. William Forsyth
treasurer. The date to commence
in the fall was Set for October 7th,
