Test Corn as
Feed for Hogs
More and more Ontario farnier4

it as a source of cheap, easily di•
gestible energy. But corn has one
big , shortcoming: When overfed,
It -"PintiliteS `Ei;!' Yaws; "eftinagS:" "
Farmers who self-feed corn and
concentrate, run into this problem
constantly. A pig slows down in
growth after reaching 110 pounds,
and tends to put extra energy into
•fat instead of meat.
Anitnal •husbandry ekperts at the
Ontario Agricultural College are
working on this problem: , They,
are carrying out tests to find out
what levels of 'corn should be fed
at the different hog weights, The
researchers are also trying , to find
out how much protein should be
fed with corn' and What, lev,e1 of
low-energy oats.' is needed to cut
down the "strength"• of corn, .
In one experiment, two ratios of
corn to oats were fed to growing

The aim of the Conservative Government has been
to deal reasonably and justly with the problemi.of 'the
people of Ontario, and I feel that -the constituents .of
Huron-Bruce have benefited greatly from this ob-
jective of a sound government.
The Progressive Conservative government; under
the able leadership of Premier Leslie Frost, has tried to
ensure equality of opportunity to each and every one
of the citizens ,of the Province.
Whenever our citizens through unforeseen circum-
stances have been denied the opportunities which
abound in this good land, the government, within its
' constitutional powers, has done its utmost to better
their condition.
This I believe is in keeping with what we are happy
to call our "Canadian Way of Life". It is a good
way — no country on earth offers a better way, and.
I am sure that the people of Huron-Bruce feel this
section of the province offers some of the best oppor-
tunities in Ontario.
