The Wingham and District As-
sociation for Retarded children is
an organization;lwhich has carried
out a magnifleent fight for reeog,
Maori and survival in this com-
munity, Formed by representatives
from not only‘ Wingham And the
surrounding townships,/ but from
the nearby towns and villages as
well, the group has undertaken the
task of providing a school for the
retarded children in the area.
Though such schools have oper-
ated most successfully ,in cities for
several years, 'the undertaking is
comparatively new in rural com-
munities, "The worth of the ven-
ture, however, has been- proven by
the progress of the pupils attending
the school in Wingham, where
