Holds Family Night
A special collection was taken
for the Retarded Children's School
at the family night meeting of the
,Wingharn Women's Institute held
in the council chamber .on' Thurs-
day evening, ,A large, nurnb'er: of
members, their faniilies•and friends
attended the pot hick -Supper; whiCh'
was followed by a short business
meeting, conducted by Mrs, R.
Powell, president.
• Mrs,' Norman Keating read the
minutes of the previous meeting
and the correspondence. New study
courses for local leader groups will
be considered at later date. A
dessert, euchre and bridge , party
was 'planned ,for the second Wed-
nesday in March, The March meet-
ing will feature a baking sale and
every member is to contribute to
the bake table. The roll call will
be a fact about Ireland or the Irish
people. The district president has
been invited to speak at this meet-
ing.
The roll call of members and the
national anthem brought 'the meet`
ing to a, close and a social time
was spent plaYing cards.

At Legion Euchre
Mrs, V. Dueharme was the win-
ner of the door prize at the euchre
Party in the Legion Home on Mon-
day evening ,sponsored by the La-
dies' Auxiliary to the Canadian Le-
,gion. •
Seven tables were in play, Mrs.
Jean Crump won the prize for high
lady. Mrs: William McKenzie, la-
dy playing as man and Gordon
Walker won the prize for the men.
Lunch was served and a social
time spent.

Women Make Quilt
For .Missionary
BELMORE—The February meet-
ing of Knox Presbyterian W,M.S.
was held in the school room of the
church last Thursday. It took the
forrn of a quilting for the mission-
ary bale. A. pot luck dinner was
enjoyed at noon,
After the quilt was completed a
short meeting was held with Mrs.
Alvin Mundell in charge. "0 Lord,
to Thee I Cry" was sung and Mrs.
T. E, Kennedy gave the Scripture
reading and Mrs. Fraser Haugh
led in prayer. Fourteen ladies re-
sponded to the roll call, "A prayer
from the Old Testament".
Mrs, John Dickson had charge of
the Bible study. She spoke of Dor-
cas, a woman of the New Testa-
merit, who was noted for her gen-
erosity and good works, A hymn
was sung and Rev. T. E, Kennedy
closed with prayer.

The study theme 'was the 'Carib-
bean area. This topie;was capably
taken by Miss Caroline Wellwood,
who 'has visited Trinidad and the
Bahamas. The first hand informa-
tion was most interesting and in-
formative,
Installation of officers for 1959
was conducted by Mrs. Greer. Mrs.
Burrell gave out material and ar-
ticks to be sewn for the bale.
