GIRLS' BASKETBALL
On January 29 the W,D.H.S, girls'
basketball teams played against
the Seaforth girls in that town. Al-
though the Juniors played a hard
game they were defeated 28-13,
Edie Davis was top scorer with 6
points. Sue Nasmith received 4
points, and Anne Fitzpatrick 3,
In the next game our Senior girls
won the game by a Seaforth de-
`fault.
Last week the W.D.H.S, girls'
basketball teams played host to the
Clinton teams. In the first game
the Seniors were victorious with
an exciting 16-14 score. Scorers
for the Wingham team were Mari-
anne McKibben, 9 points; Ca-
rol Greg, 5 points and Betty Jean
McDonald, 2 points.,
The Juniors played a hard game
hut were defeated 19-12. Edic Da-
vis was again top scorer for the
'Juniors with 6 points, Sue Na-
smith received 4 points and Karen
Groskorth 2 points.
BOYS' BASKETBALL
'+ The boys' basketball season at
Wingham District High School got
started on January 21 when the.
Wingham teams played host to the
Senior and Junior boys from Sea-.
forth. Two very close games re-'
suited with Wingham victorious in
both games.
The Seniors won by a score of
45-44 in one of the most exci`ting
garocs:In Wingham's history, The
point-getters for Wingham were
Hetherington with 23 and. Peter
Nasmith with 11.
The Wingham Juniors pulled a
36-34 victory out of the battle
against the Seaforth boys. The top
scorers were Barry Fuller with 9
point% and Malcolm. Mackay, Bar-
ry Pickford and Gerry Foxton each
getting 6.
On January 28, the Wingham
boys journeyed to Clinton where
they were defeated in both games
by the Clinton squads.
The Seniors lost their game 53-41
in an exciting battle. The two top
marksmen for Wingham were Pe-
ter Nasmith with 22 points+ and
Rae Hetherington with 12.
The Juniors were defeated 54-18
in the second gain° of; the year at.
the hands of the Clinton team.
Harry Wiltink scored 6 points and
Barry Pickford scored 5.
On February 4, the Wingham
squads stayed at home to play
against visiting Goderich teams.
In the first game the Seniors ov-
erpoWered Goderieh to win 50-44.
At the end of the quarter
Wingham led 15-11, but at 'half-
time Goderich had tied the score
at 19 all. Wingham, again tools the
lead in the third quarter but hopes
dwindled when Rag Hetherington
fouled out. The toom managed to
hold together and won with a final
score of 50-41. The top scorers
were 'Peter Nasmith with 25 points;
Rae Hetherington with 12 and
Doug 'Sidon, 6.
The Juniors suffered a defeat at
the hands of the Goderich team to
the tune of 55-16. Top marksmen
for Wingham. were Gerry Foxton
with 6 points, Malcolm Mackay, 5
and Barry Pickford, 3,
