nold Lillow, well-known Bluevale
businessman, is situated en No, .86

village. The structure is scene 74
by 54 feet in size .and contains an
auto service offiee, a .two -bay
auto service centre and a special
parts storage room,
Tn connection with the auto set. -

of the building Is one complete
room, with large double doors at
each end, providing space for a
truck drive-through, which means
that the largest transport truck
"on the highways can be brought
under cover for repair work,
As well,, Mr. ,Lillow, who has
gained an enviable, reputation Co'r
his television sales and service over
the years, has taken one section of
the new building ,for this purpose.
The space devoted to this part of
his business has ;a large display
room and a ,repair division that is
equipped.with the latest 'testing de-
vices for.television and radio.
The building itself is of concrete
block and fabricated steel coni
struotion, and is virtually' ,fire-
proof, the only woodwork In the
establishment being a small amount
of trim in the offices and a few
of the work benches. The roof is
all -steel with built up asphalt sur-
face. In the ,summer the roof will
carry three inches of water on its
surface, which will provide natural:
cooling and insulation from heat,
Heated by a large hot water boi-
ler, radiation is in the form of
forced air unit radiators suspend -
ed from the ceiling in various part:
of the • working areas. '
Thomas Contractor
General contractor for the build-
ing was Harold Thomas of Brds-
sell with McDonald Lumber Co;
and the Wingham Sawmill Co. Ltd.
providing much of the material.
F. J. Arnold and Son of Mildmay
looked after ' the plumbing and
heating contract. The Davidson
Weil. Drilling firm 'of Wingham`
sunk a 132 -foot well to supply wa-
ter.to rhe new building. This well
supplies some seven other resi-
dences in the village besides the
new garage.
Esso Service
Mr, Lillow has been an Esso pro-
ducts dealer for a number of years,
and the new service station will
continue oto handle this same line
of quality petroleum products. In

equipment available.
In the two -bay service depart-
ment all grease, oil and compress,
ed air is delivered to special hese-'
lines suspended from' the ceiling,
by pressure from; storage tanks In
the basement. A modern hoist,.
designed to ,fit any car on the road,
Is also situated in this section of
the building. For his gasoline der
partment Nfr, Lillow has installed a
two -pump Island In the area int-
medlately in front of the office,.
which also allews for a large park-
ing area.

Continuing his association with
the Philco Corporation of Canada,
for whom ii,e lids been a dealer for
a number of years, Mr. ,Lillow has
set up a special display sales room
Which is stocked with a large se-
lection of Philco TV sets, record
players and radios. Immediately
behind the television display Is the
repair centre, equipped with some
of the most modern testing sets
available to the trade.
Mr,i Lillow has a staff of seven
employees engaged :Iry the various
departments, including an erection
crew for television aerials.
Arnold Lillow is a native of the
Bluevale district, having been
raised at the Black Brothers home,
on the edge of Bluevale. Following
a five-year stint in the Royal Can-
adian Air Force during, the war he,
entered business life in the village
in 1945 when he started a garage,
operated a store and entered the
radio, andlater the television
field. He was married in." 1945, to
the former Evelyn McMinn of Pal -
grave. The couple have twe daugh-
ters, Mary and Barbara.
Last week -end, the service sta-
tion was . open to visitors. The
televisloh room, containing a num-
ber of sets on view, was bright.
with Bouquets of flowers sent by
friends, and business associates.
Several hundred, people attended
the opening. Draws were made for
,.prizes with the winners being:
Radio, Gordon Robinson of Wing -
ham; spotlight, Harry ,Elliott, of
•Bluevale; motor rug, Bill Wade,
Wroxeter; oil change, Terry John-
ston, Bluevale; oil change, Mrs, R.
Hilbert, Wroxeter; and three lu-
bricating jobs, Charles Clark, of
Bluevale, D. Statia, Wroxeter and
Lloyd Peacock of Bluevale.
Draws, for, other prizes will be
made some time this week, when
the weather improves.
