HOLDS ANNUAL MEET
The annual meeting of the Morris
Township Federation of Agricul-
ture was held in the Foresters'
Belgrave, November 18th
Ross Smith, the president, ;vas in
charge of the meeting,
"O Canada”, was sung, and the
minutes were , read and adopted
Ross Smith gave a report of the
activities for 1958. P. Miles, agri-
cultural representative, gave a talk
which included' information re the
brucullosis survey, the 'accident
survey and the rabies outbreak, He
presented the $2 township award
to"fifteen 4-H eltib members who
hadcompleted 18 projects.
Members then watched the Farm
Forum TV program from Wingham
"Performance or personality", Mrs,
Gordon Greig was leader of the
discussion period ,which follqwed.
It' was agreed that beef cattle
needed more Size and show ring
standards require less finish, MO,
Walter Scott presented a resolutiOn.
from the Wpmen's Institute re-
garding, Daylight Saying Tialc—
either abolish it or standardize it—
this was passed by the meeting,
Winston Shapton, cOurity presi-
dent, addressed the meeting and
spoke on the 'activities of the Fed-

reminded us that farmers are
strong on production but in many
cases are weak in disposing of
those products. Price supports
have been a benefit to the farmer
but as has been proven Ili the U,S.
too high a support price can be
just as bad as oneqoo low. Co-ops
can play an important part in com-
batting 'the dangers of vertical
inie"ration since through the,Co-
op the farm retains control. Quota
marketing is something' that will
have to be considered, Mr. Hergott
stated but markets for our pro-
ducts must be expanded to the ut-
most before we attempt production
'controls.
Mrs. Gordon Greig urged every-
one to •attend TV Atrm Forum.
Much information can be gained
thrOugr the Forum but perhaps
more important is the forming of
ideas than can then be put into
practice...TV Farm Forum is over

Reports were received from rep-
resentatives of the following cora-
modity groups: Wheat ProduCers;
Russel Bolton; Creain Producers,
Simon Hallahan; Beef Producers,
Bob McGregor; Poultry Producers,
Carl Hemingway; Hog Producers,
Bert Lobb.
Gordon Greig, chairman of the
resolutions committee, introduced
the' resolutions, some of those, ap-
proved being as follows: • 1 Request to . government for
compensation for livestock lost by
rabies was re-affirmed.
2 In order to carry on the ever-
„expanding work of the Federation'
it was urged that the levy should
be a half mill. This is an increase
of 10 cents per thouSand of assess-
ment. ,
3 The meeting strongly endors-
ed resolutions received from 'the,
townships and other organizations
requesting standard time through-
out the year.
4 The Hog Producers Marketing
Plan was unanimously endorsed by
the meeting.
5 Appreciation was extended to
the weekly papers and to CKNX`
for veined services,
Doug Miles, agricultural repre-
sentative, outlined the brucellosis,
campaign to be conducted' early in
the new year, also the farm' acci-'
dent survey that will 'begin this
whiter. Officers elected were Win-
ston Shapton, Exeter, pres,; War-
ren Zurbrigg, Gorrie, first vice-
pres.; and Gordon Gteig, Wroxeter,
second vice-pres.
