addressing the delegates 'to the
National conference of CNI13 field
repreSentatives and placement of-
ficers held in Toronto last week.
He emphasized that the teamwork
which has made. CNIB the effective
community resource which it is, is
also a big factor in the rapid
growth Of the civilian rehabilita-
tion programme in this country.

from the ten Canadian provinces,
met for five clays in the agency
headquarters at Toronto to 'review
and discuss the present service
programme for the blind. French
and knglish speaking specialists,
themselves blind, compared their
Problems and programmes with
the view to improving and expand-
ing services to the blind of Aheir
province.

'Mrs. Tervit Was
1 Born in Scotland
The death of one of the pioneer
residents' of Turnberry Township
Mrs. John Tervit, occurred at the
Wingnam. General Hospital on
Thursday of last week, Mrs. Ter-
vit had been confined to the hos-
pital for almost nine years, after
suffering a paralytic stroke. She
was 90 years of age. ,
The former Annie Huggan, she
was born in Hawick, Scotland, a
daughter of the late Andrew'Hug-
gan and Mary Rutherford, When
she was eleven years of age, in 1879,
she came with her parents to
Turnberry Township. •
She was married in Wingham to
John Tervit, who predeceased her
in 1950. 'Mrs. Tervit is survived
by one soh, George, of Turnberry;
and four grandchildren.
Sfie was •a member of St. And-
rew's Presbyterian Church, Wing-
ham, and of the Wtomen's iristi-,
Ante.
'Service was held at the Currie
funeral home at two o'clock Mon-
day afternoon, with Dr. A. Nimmo
in charge arid interment in the
Winghain Cemetery. The pall-
frarers were T. A. Currie, Kenneth
Currie, Arthur Wilson, James, Wil-
son, George Fowler "and Walter
Pocock. The floral tributes were'
carried by Art Adams, George Or-
vis, Jack McKague and Harvey.
