duet, and Ronald McBurney played
a piano solo, Ruth Coultes led in
a treasure hunt in the Book qt,
Proverbs. Six children read the
Scripture verse, and asked the'par-
eras to tell the treasure that was
fouricl—wi.srloin, knowledge, under-
standing, etc,
Mrs. Roy Pattlson and Mrs.
Clarence Chamney were in charge
of the graduation exereiSeS and five
children of the Baby Band, Elaine
Robinson, Doris Coultes, Donald
Pettison, Barry Mason and Jim-
mie Beecroft gave up their blue or
pink caps to Mrs, Pattison and
Passed, through, the gate to Mrs.
Chamney, superintendent of the
Mission Band, and received their
green caps With the daisy on it.
Mrs. Edgar Wightman was the
special „speaker for the day, and
gave a very interesting talk on,
"The Story of Japan". Mrs, Chain-
Glosed the meeting with prayer
and the children played games
until the ladies served lunch.

the United Church told the regular
meeting on Wednesday last at the
home of Mrs, G. Gillespie, with
Mrs. Milian Moore presiding,
Eleven ladies were present, Mrs.
Moore led with the call to worship
and Mrs, Kenneth Dowling read
the Scripture message of the talent.
Mrs, Bea MoClenaghan gave the
meditation talk,. :saying this was
the parable of encouragement, Mrs.
Albert Coultes led in John Calvin's
prayer, Mrs, Garnet Farrier played
a piano :sole and Mrs. Cettltes gave
the financial report, saying. over
$112.00 had been sent to the W.M.S,
treasurer, „ and acknowledged the,
fine returns from. the mite boxes.
Mrs, T. D. Beegroft had charge
of the last chapter in the study
book, "Facing Tomorrow in Japan",
telling of some of the opposition.

Mrs. K. Dowling, president of the
W.A., was in charge of the meeting
that followed and the ladies de-
cided to, hold a sale of baking and
a tea in Wingharn the last of Sep-
tember, Mrs, Farrier reported
that the bale had been acknowledg-
ed, and that over eleven thousand
tons of clothing had been sent since
the United Church took over this
work, with thirty-five tons sent in
the past five months,
Mrs. W. R. Farrier invited the
ladies to come to her hOme for the
next meeting.
Cecil Parsons
Dies in Toronto'
WIATECHURCH—Miss Olive
Terriff received word on Monday
of the passing of her brother-in-
law, Cecil Parsons, of Toronto, He
suffered a stroke three weeks ago
and, never recovered from it. His
wife, formerly Flora Ross of Kin-
loss, daughter of'the late Mr, and
Mrs. Malcolm Ross, predeceased
him one year ago.
He leaves one son, Donald and
one, daughter, Miss Marianne, and
two grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ross of
Turnberry left on Monday, also to
attend the funeral from the Mc-
Dougall and Brown funeril home
on Wednesday.
