Alexander Hutchison of Calgary,
and fprmerly of Fordwieh, Ontario.
Rr Cent Vears were spent in Ottawa,
until" Mr,'Hutchisou's retirement
last August as Director of National
Parks, Several months were then
spent abread; hoping Mrs. Hutchi-,
son's health would be restored, but
when this was unsucceasful they
returned to Canada in June.
Surviving besides her husband
is onelerother, Norman of Victoria,
Private service 'was held in
Montreal , on Friday, AuguAt 22nd,
after which' the remains were
brOught to' Fordwich Cemetery for
interment on Tuesday, August 27th.

for the 39th annual convention of
the Canadian Weekly Newspapers
Association:*
The three-day meeting,will centre
around discussions of the problems
facing 'the industry and sessions
beheld with•representatives of
advertisers and agencies and the
Audit Bureau off Circulation,
Highlighting the discussions,
both formal and informal, will bied
the matter of better promotion .of
the weekly ;newspapers as an lin-
portant .medium for local and nat-
ional advertiser., This is' expected
to bring official sanction by dele-
gates for the inauguration and
support ora fulltime promotion
and public reiations department in
the CWNA,natiOnal offices in Tor-
onto.
According to William Telfer,
CWNA maneging director, pro-
motion of Weekly newspapers as an
important' medium will go a long
way towards increasing revenues
thereby assisting many weeklies
now finding , it hard to hold ad-
vertising •and subscription rates at
present love's and still' meet ris-
ing• costs.
Combined circulation of the Eng,
fish weeklies in Canada has now
passed the 11A million mark, Mr,
Telfer said.
A number of national assbela-
tions and companieS will enter-
tain delegates at various luncheons
and the a Wernnient of Ontario
will give a dinner. ' '
