community activities committee,
Mrs. Chas, Shiell gave a• paper on
'Mothers' Day. Mrs. Ezra Scholtz
played two piano selections and
the roll call was answered by a
humorous kitchen incident, Mrs.
Frank Ross gave, a demonstration
on how to make a jelly roll, mixing
the cake, cooking it and after the
lemon filling spread, rolling It,
Mrs, Gordon McBurney and Mrs.
Wallace Conn,. on the recreation.
committee asked each lady to draw
a card, on which was a topic for
conversation, and each member
was asked to speak on their sub-
ject for a minute. The. meeting was
closed with the national 'anthem.
The hostesses, Mrs. Gershom John-
ston, Mrs, Alex Leaver and Mrs.
George Walker served lunch of
sandwiches and cookies, and Mrs.
Ross' jelly roll cake, for 'which
she received much
commendation,

Mrs. Chas, 'Gillespie, and met her
cousin, Miss Daisy .Rose, of High-
wycomb Bucks, England, who will
visit with relatives here, and in
the West. Mr. 'Gillespie 'and Mr.
Garnet Farrier motored to Toronto
on Sunday and Mrs, Gillespie and
Miss Rose, accompainied them
home.
