GORRIE—The death occurred in
the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Tor-
onto, on Friday evening of Mrs
Lavina Downey, 78, after a long ill-
ness. She was the widow of William
Downey, of Windsor and Mount
Forest.
Born in Fordwich, she was the'
youngest daughter of • the' late
Robt. Harding and Ellzabeth
Switzer. Her early- life was spent
in Fordwich where her husband
was principal of the. Fordwich
Public School. They lived for many
years in Windsor, where her hus-
band taught in the public school
and Collegiate Institute. Following
his retirement they lived in Mount
Forest. She, was a member of the
United Church.
Surviving are two nieces, who
were foster daughters,' Mrs. Nor-
man .
Rowe (Ardys),• Oshawa, and
Mrs; Jeffrey Thomas (Gloria),
Windsor. .e • .
Funeral service was at the ,Gard-
iner funeral home, Mount Forest,
at 2 p.m. Monday; with interment
in Fordwich cemetery.
