Wawanosh accepts zoning application East Wawanosh council accepted an application for an amendment to a re-zoning from Ross and Ross, agents for Brian McNall at its Dec. 1 meeting. The by-law was amended to deal with side yard deficiencies as there wasn't enough footage from his res idence to the top of the riverbank. The amendment provides for a sec ond residence on the property. Council supported a resolution from the Village of Cardinal asking the Minister of Housing to recog nize a problem which may arise for senior citizens across Canada should younger persons be allowed to move into units formerly desig nated as senior citizen apartment buildings. Council supported a second reso lution from the Township of North Plantagenet requesting the Ministry of Environment reconsider their decision to shift the administrative costs of operating water and sewage facilities to municipalities. A by-law concerning Potter's Bridge at Lot 39-40, Cone 1 was updated. The by-law limits the weight of vehicles passing over the bridge to five tonnes. Building permits were issued to Leslie Caldwell, North Part Lot 40, Cone. 2 for a silo; Neil Vincent, Part Lot 31 Cone. 11 for an addi tion to a storage shed and to Howatt brothers of Part Lot 34, Cone. 5 for a roof over a manger. Howatt Brothers were also issued a demolition permits for three silos on the property. Mike Alexander, East Wawa- nosh's representative on the Wing ham Recreation, Parks and Community Centre Board reported to council. A motion was made that no heavy trucks be allowed on Jane St. and Queen St. in the village of Auburn. Signs are to be erected by the Road Superintendent. The road superintendent and Councillor Maurice Hallahan were authorized to do necessary work for a drainage problem on road allowance in the Huron Heights subdivision. Grey Twp. passes by-law Grey Township council held its regular meeting on Dec. 7 and passed a by-law adopting occupa tional health and safety policies for the municipality. Mervyn Bauer was appointed as a township representative to the Brussels, Morris & Grey Board of Recreation Management in place of Clarence Bishop who had earlier resigned. The Road Superintendent was authorized to have the township truck, plow Main and Mill Streets in Ethel rather than it being removed by a private contractor. In other business council approved for payment, general accounts totalling $87,954.66, road accounts totalling $40,279.59 and drain accounts totalling $1,792.21.
