HCBE discusses multi-use THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 16,1992. PAGE 15. facility with McKillop council A delegation from the Huron County Board of Education (HCBE) was present at the Dec. 1 meeting of McKillop council to discuss a proposal for a multi-use facility at the Seaforth and District Community Centres and Seaforth District High School. The viability of such a proposal and whether it could be considered for funding under the Ministry of Education Multi-use School Fund and other grant revenue were the issues. McKillop/Seaforth trustee Gra eme Craig advised that the high school has been experiencing diffi culties in scheduling physical edu cation classes and larger school events in the minimum sized gym. The elementary school is also over crowded and could benefit from a recreation facility. Tuckersmith/Hensall Trustee Allan Carter indicated that in November of 1991, discussions were initiated to determine the fea sibility of a joint facility with HCBE, the high school, public school, Community Centres Board, the town of Seaforth, the Recre ation Committee and the Seaforth Agriculture Society. Formal endorsement for the development of this joint proposal was received from he town. Revenue sources and the project ed operating costs were outlined by Paul Carroll HCBE superintendent of business and operations. Council indicated they were not interested in another facility which wouldcreate a debtfOTjhe^rate£ay- ers. Further indications were that the project should be financed through grants which could be obtained by HCBE. Several board and committee appointments were made. Reeve Marie Hicknell and Deputy-reeve William Siemon were appointed tot he Ausable-Bayfield Conservation Authority Representative Commit tee. Deputy-reeve Siemon was appointed a McKillop's representa tive to the Mailtand Valley Conser vation Authority.
