Sitting on the job
This Belgrave Atom player may be sitting on the job, but he's still working at trying to get at
the puck. Belgrave and Blyth faced off Saturday morning at the Blyth Arena with Blyth coming
out victorious, winning the game 7-1.
On Wednesday, Dec. 9 the
Brussels Midgets defeated Elma
Logan 6-3.
Brussels built up a 3-1 first
period lead with goals by Ryan
Finch from Wayne Alexander, Tim
Machan from Brad Beuermann and
Brett Clarkson from Mike
Bromley, Brussels led 5-2 at the
end of the second period with
scoring for Brussels by Finch from
Brad Beuermann and Chris
Stevenson unassisted, in the third.
Mark Robinson scored from
Bromley and Pete Gusso.
On Dec. 12 and 13 Brussels
participated in the Elma-Logan
Midget-Tyke Tournament.
The first game Saturday morning
was completely dominated by the
Brussels team however, many bad
bounces, resulted in a 3-2 overtime
After a slow start, Brussels Atom
Houseleague team came back in the
last two periods to tie in a Friday
night struggle against a tough
Stephen Township team. With sup
port from his teammates, centre
Trevor Wilson gave the visitors
something to think about as he put
on the heat and scored all four of
the Brussels goals.
Stephen Township came on
strong, putting a small scare into
the as yet undefeated Brussels
team, getting three goals in the first
period, while holding the home
team scoreless.
Then halfway through the sec
ond, off a play by Darrell Dalton,
Wilson nudged in the first for his

loss. Brussels had many chances to
win this game during the regular
time but couldn't beat the Bothwell
goalie until the third period.
Bothwell had led 1-0 until 12:43 of
the third when Bromley went in
alone and scored to tie the game.
Then just seven seconds later
Wayne Alexander scored on a hard
shot just at the face-off circle, with
assists by Randy Beuermann and
Robinson.
Bothwell tied the game with 8:46
left in the third and then went on to
win at 1:13 of overtime.
Brussels' second game against
Parkhill was penalty filled, but the
Brussels team kept their cool and
went on for a 4-1 victory.

Kellington made the play to Nathan
Conley who shot it in position for
Wilson to score again.
Wilson tied it up in third, assisted
by Darrell Dalton, but five minutes
later Stephen Township snuck it
past goalie Stephen Oldfield to take
the lead again. Brussels wouldn't
give in, however, and with just a
little over a minute remaining
Matthew McLellan off a play by
Carla Hunt, put the puck in position
for Wilson who slipped in his
fourth goal.

Randy Beuermann scored the
second goal from Greg Fritz.
In the second period Clarkson
scored from Robinson. Brad
Beuermann with a hard slapshot
from the point, scored the fourth
goal with the assist going to Finch.
The final game was against Elma
Logan. The home town team
(Elma-Logan) gave a valiant effort,
however Brussels pulled out a 3-2
victory.

Blyth doubled their output in the
third coasting to victory. Howson
and Chamney teamed up again in
the first minute of the third as they
assisted on Jason Rutledge's
wraparound goal.

Anderson deked the goalie and slid
the puck into the vacated net.
McDougall and Johnston got their
second points of the game with just
under three minutes remaining as
they made Brian Marks' goal look
easy.
After opening the scoring, Peter
Craig saw it fitting to also end the
game scoring 10 seconds later.
Mike Salvcrda and Henry Bos set
up Craig who connected once again
from deep in the slot.
The final buzzer couldn't sound
too soon as Blyth glided-to an 8-1
