Unfortunately, the Bulls were chasing after Wingham most of the game and ended up losing to the Ironmen, 5-3. Despite this loss, the Bulls remain in second place in the Western Junior C division. Bulls lose The Brussels Bulls remain in second place in Western Jr. C action despite losing both games played on the weekend. Saturday night the Mt. Forest Patriots scored three unanswered * first period goals and received excellent goaltending enroute to a Brussels Novices win The Brussels Novice House­ league team travelled to Hensall on Saturday, Dec. 12 for a 12:00 game. Hensall started the scoring with a goal in the first period but Brussels battled back with three goals in the second. Brian Oldfield took a pass from Chris Blake to score the first goal. Tim Harrison scored next with an assist going to Matt Clarkson. Brian Oldfield finished the scoring in the second with a pass from Scott McDonald. The third period had goals from both teams. Hensail drew to within a goal of Brussels. Stephen Todd put it out of reach on pass from Chris Coulter to finish the game 4-2. The penalty-free game was played well by both teams. Brussels' next game is Friday, Dec. 18 at 6:45 p.m. in Zurich. LOW,’ LOW RATES! 2 in weekend play Bantams thrash Goderich By Rusty Blades The Blyth Bantams once again played a single league game lasl week at home on Dec. 7. The boys played a weak Goderich II team and thrashed them 8-1, all the while playing a very ragged brand of hockey. Defence partners Peter Craig and Greg Toll teamed up for Blyth's opening goal 57 seconds into the contest with Craig scoring on a 45 foot slapper. The only defensive miscue by Blyth occurred six minutes later as Goderich scored a shorthanded breakaway goal to deadlock the score at 1-1. Blyth took the lead for good, two minutes later as Ryan Chamney won a face off deep in Goderich territory to Michael de Jong, whose slapslot whizzed by the goaltenders outstretched trapper. Sunday afternoon the Wingham Ironmen stopped the Bulls with a 5-3 win. Brussels opened quickly on goals by Jeff McKee and Brad Gibb's first of the year. Wingham tied the game late in the first period on powerplay goals, 13 seconds apart, added two more in the second, then, after Ted Sills scored midway through the final period, sealed the win on a goal with five minutes remaining. Gary Bridge stopped 19 shots, including ex-Bull Joe Walker on a penalty shot attempt; Friday night the Bulls make their first trip to the Hanover Coliseum, then return home to meet the Walkerton Black Hawks Sunday at 2:00. Sunday, Dec. 27 the Hanover Barons return for their annual Christmas visit.
