The chase
A Brussels Bulls player chases after an opposing Wingham Ironmen player during a game
Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately, the Bulls were chasing after Wingham most of the game
and ended up losing to the Ironmen, 5-3. Despite this loss, the Bulls remain in second place
in the Western Junior C division.

Bantams
thrash
Goderich
By Rusty Blades
The Blyth Bantams once again
played a single league game lasl
week at home on Dec. 7. The boys
played a weak Goderich II team
and thrashed them 8-1, all the while
playing a very ragged brand of
hockey.
Defence partners Peter Craig and
Greg Toll teamed up for Blyth's
opening goal 57 seconds into the
contest with Craig scoring on a 45
foot slapper. The only defensive
miscue by Blyth occurred six
minutes later as Goderich scored a
shorthanded breakaway goal to
deadlock the score at 1-1.
Blyth took the lead for good, two
minutes later as Ryan Chamney
won a face off deep in Goderich
territory to Michael de Jong, whose
slapslot whizzed by the goaltenders
outstretched trapper. Blyth added
two second period goals as Ryan
Chamney increased the lead to 3-1,

Sunday afternoon the Wingham
Ironmen stopped the Bulls with a
5-3 win. Brussels opened quickly
on goals by Jeff McKee and Brad
Gibb's first of the year. Wingham
tied the game late in the first period
on powerplay goals, 13 seconds
apart, added two more in the
second, then, after Ted Sills scored
midway through the final period,
sealed the win on a goal with five
minutes remaining. Gary Bridge
stopped 19 shots, including ex-Bull
Joe Walker on a penalty shot
attempt;
Friday night the Bulls make their
first trip to the Hanover Coliseum,
then return home to meet the
Walkerton Black Hawks Sunday at
2:00. Sunday, Dec. 27 the Hanover
Barons return for their annual
Christmas visit.
The Formosa ‘3’ Stars were
Wingham's Troy Fischer with a two
goal effort, Bulls' defenceman Tim
Beyer and Ironmen goaltender
Steve Schwartzentruber.
