UCW reveals 1993 officers The basement of Duffs United Church was tastefully decorated in the Christmas theme for the U.C.W. December meeting on Wednesday evening. The tables were decorated in green with red candles for the smorgasbord when everyone sat down to a delicious meal of casseroles, cabbage, jellos and a great assortment of desserts. After supper and the dishes were done up, Marion Godkin presented the Bank family with a box of goodies on behalf of the U.C.W. Rev. Banks expressed thanks and shared a Christmas thought of “The Night Before Christmas”. Marie McGavin led in an advent worship for the decorations. O Come, O Come, Emmanuel was sung, with Marion Godkin as pianist. Taking part were Dorothy Sholdice, Maxine Houston and Phyllis Mitchell. Marie lit the candles between each hymn. The business was in charge of Marie who opened with a poem, “No Santa Claus”. The Christmas story was read by Phyllis while Christmas hymns were sung between messages. The minutes were read by Doreen Hackwell and the treasurer's report was given by Leona. Then Marie presented Leona with gifts - a rose and a plaque for her service as secretary since 1962. The offering was received and dedicated by singing We Give Thee but Thine Own. Maxine Houston brought in the new budget for ’93. It was mentioned there were still Heritage Books and church calendars for sale, as well as cook books. Articles were received for Survival Through Friendship House through a donation for the roll call. Dorothy Sholdice brought in the 1993 U.C.W. officers.
